Same complaint as a lot of people lag in firefight and campaign. My connection is decent and I am playing with people from my own region. I never lag on halo 3. Overall very dissapointed as I have not been able to experience firefight to its full capabilities yet. On a small note u shud have to hold a button to pick a health pack, especially in crater to stop accidental pick ups.

Im here to post a complaint that i think should be adresed to before in my opinion might make firefight a graveyard in a few months (maybe). for hardcore firefighters like me who play it for more then achievments and vidmasters firefight is starting to get really boring BECAUSE the skulls have a specific order they turn on making it un challenging for everyone. i can sit there and tell you what skulls come on set 4 round 1 because iv played that much. Bungie i think a patch is needed to randomize the skulls to make this more fun and more of a challenge to people so please consider making a patch to make the firefight skulls random.

Are you ready? Are you ready to rock?

Major problems:
1) Lagging out for no reason in Firefight after playing for nearly 2 hours perfectly fine!
2) No matchmaking so will have to find people via forums which is simply annoying.
3) Campaign is boring compared to halo series.
4) Halo reach better be worth the money after odst ripped us off.

ok well i find this game to be great for several simple reasons all are gameplay related and of course the others are gripes and one major networking issue which imho NEEDS to be fixed

likes:
the pistol is amazingly good

no BR :D so sick of it to be honest the pistol at least makes me feel tingly in a funny place :D

firefight in general gameplay wise etc

the darker moodier noir atmoshpere

more adult themed

the new nade throwing style is awesome it always annoyed me in H3 and now it feels more fluid and natural to the flow of your movement where as in H3 it seems that spartans throw almost directly at the ground leading me to believe that all spartans excell at everything but baseball and in fact are small 9 year old asthmatic nerdy girls

dislikes:

you're not a spartan and yet you handle the exact same for the most part or damn near similar and YET more people complain?
there is little difference between a spartan and ODST to a fault and bungie promised more and failed to deliver

the shotgun needs a major power boost although i do understand the idea was to be a backup to kill drones it's painfully lacking vs brutes of all sizes and ranks where was the 1hit kill of H3 legend?

brutes lagging through sticks...it is the topic of complaint for many an annoying anti social over competitive player of H3 and it's a small nuisance to all so why if it's such a big problem for halo players should it be carried across to ODST i would have thought that this was more important than fudging stat's tracking <_<

the lag!!! oh the horrible lag!!!!!! i've had some games with minimal lag like button lag etc but the terrible lag which means that you're gonna get a disconnect sooner or later and in the case of endure preferably sooner... and no i can play other games online which are just as graphically challenging sometimes even more so and yet be fine with no lag the one that springs immediately to mind is the amazing GOW2 horde mode as many have rightly said so why on earth can't we have a working lag free firefight experience? i don't mind that the games slightly lacking or rushed or that it's nothing completely new to the franchise. i don't mind about any of the flaws that the game intrinsically has but i sure as hell can't for the love of god understand why this issue is even here!! firefight is the replay value of odst in a nutshell it's fantastically made and yet it fails simply due to this alone!
if it was a problem with the AI being involved make the waves smaller and more frequent then! if it's a problem with the code then FIX it in a patch or else risk becoming the new cod4 and bungie will become the new EA games and just create games to make money with no substance whatsoever

can't skyjack and can't use wraiths as well as being able to smash em with your bare hands after hijacking...

you're human not a spartan so why can a odst human smash a wraith with his bare hands? laziness on the part of the developer is the logical answer no skyjacking? obviously again to make the game smaller and cut down on size laziness again or lack of ingenuity on the developer and finally no wraith driving... does it take a superhuman with the strength to crush.... nevermind.... with catch driving is suicide so it's hardly going to be abused much so once again laziness comes to mind as to the blame of this lack in the game

and finally a lack of an official word from bungie as to the lag issue which plagues us all and destroys firefight for at least 80% of the games players... expect odst to be for die hard fans only and occupy bargain bins along with halo wars for many years to come unless a LOT is added to this game at no extra cost to the already ripped off feeling customers
but for the love of buck do NOT ignore this issue much longer it should NEVER have even existed let alone be ignored going on 1 month after release i'll forgive all flaws with a single player campaign along with the terribly bland achievements if only it had a solid co op multiplayer firefight mode but due to this lag BS it's just unacceptable

the beeping is annoying we should be able to turn it off as should we be able to turn off auto aim there's also a massive lack of options which are needed to feel comfortable playing the game if for example my bro signs on and off it will keep playing the speech from my xbl friends through the speakers and my wireless headset simultaneously? why?

the red hue i don't feel too bad about BUT i do hate the fact visor mode is painfully underused in any outdoor level it's a great aspect to the game but as it's necessary against stalkers the hue needs to be reduced when using it in non low light environments

picking up health packs when only minor damage has been suffered should have been picked up on a lot faster by the testers button press FTW plx

all in all i LOVE this game and won't be parting with it any time soon but i will constantly feel like i've been ripped off it's bad enough that i've to suffer the other idiotic cretins of xbl on halo 3 at least i can mute them but to force me to play on a game that shouldn't lag but does and was designed to be a expansion and then became a full if rushed game is terrible. it seem's really that in the end bungie seemed to think all we wanted to do was get recon <_< and that disappoints all of us who really wanted to be firefighting it up for many years to come

and finally

you removed weapons... you took out dual wielding both of which i don't mind.. and yet you stated that disk size was an issue? how? there's no real answers anywhere and i and many others will become increasingly frustrated

more characters or customisation for FF would be great too in future as well

I played through the first level, no grenades, no bullets fired, and i didn't get the classic achievement, was it because it was part of the rookie campaign or because i smacked everyone?

I could care less about people wanting a Match Making like in Halo 3, but I believe that there should be an implementation of a means to find people to at least play Firefight with...

I personally don't have a problem getting my friends together to play, but there are people who are entirely new to the Xbox Live experience and have no way of playing with any except say their little sister.

Just one flaw with Firefight and with ODST in general, and its been repeated quite a bit, but im going to say it anyway. Firefight needs matchmaking, And if it doesnt get it, it will end up very empty in the xbox live played games. You can play the campaign only so many times (im on my 6th run myself) and dont get me wrong its fun, but for this game to continue to get play time by everyone currently playing it, and those 600,000 people that have stopped playing it (just look at the bungie homepage 900,000 peeps online during the first week, it now stands at 300,000) this isnt people not liking the game it has to do with the friends list game, I least to me, it feels like the stars have to align for me to get a game in with 4 people. I know, I know bungie said "firefight is based on the Halo 3 co-op campiagn system" in other words no dedicated servers (if im not mistaken) but if they dont change this, I mean its not impossible, its just not convenient for them to do so now, then ODST will sadly fade away on peoples shelves only to be brought back for the Reach beta, and thats truly sad that we have an awesome multiplayer in firefight, that cant be enjoyed by all in a convenient way just because they decided not to include it in the development cycle, Im normally the one defending bungie from all the flamers out there, and I still will defend them if need be, but this situation with the matchmaking is truly bungie dropping the proverbial Ball. I know that of they really wanted to they could fix this, ask microsoft for some cash to have some dedicated servers, set aside a group of network engineers, whatever it takes, and if its microsoft pulling the strings forcing them to forget about ODST and just concentrate on Reach then Halo:Reach will not sell as well as it could because of the tarnished reputation this will create amongst gamers.

There is nothing wrong with Halo:Reach. We all just have our gripes about everything we don't like. Not liking something doesn't make it broken.

My problem is not too horrible now that I give it some thought. But I would rather be heard and try to make change.

Red/gold/shielded Buggers

The drones make up the most extremely annoying hassle in ALL of firefight. They move blazing fast and never need to stop shooting as they are nearly always facing you. For even an Average skilled player, taking out normal buggers is a breeze, however the introduction of shielded versions has opened up problems I find quite unfair.

My issue: I believe that Shielded drones need something in the way of a nerf. Their shields, at least, when under fire are identical in strength to a brute. This is not quite right, I think it would play much better if they had LESS shielding.

They, like most drones, are amazingly fast. It also seems Shielded drones make better use of weaving about cover. For this reason, with skulls like mythic and tilt working against them, players find these s-o-b's nearly impossible to kill in any efficient manner short of the infamous "LOL CHOPPER SOLVES EVERYTHING!" tactics.

I think simply Halving the shields would easily suffice. It wouldn't allow them too many cheap escapes outside of skulls and once the skulls are all on, things like Mythic and Tilt will still render then a challenge (with much less annoyance, as it wouldn't be like trying to kill a flying brute)

Also, to anyone with the real knowledge on this reading, could you please tell me if and what kind of difference in shields exist? I want this issue to go away and if my own delusion is causing it, I want to set it aside.

My friends and I had attempted in getting the Deja Vu achievement. The 2nd time I did it, I never seen so much lag. Once we got to the end, one of our members gets disconnected. His internet was fine and he rejoins the party without a doubt. We took about an hour or more just getting it. I'm tired of playing it over and over with the connection always getting lost when the user playing it had no network trouble. Please, I spent time getting it and I just want my achievement.

Okay this just happened to me and my group a few minutes ago. So we just pass Set 4 Round 3 Bonus Round. We are all anxious for the achievement to pop up but NO , someone decides to quit at the last moment or got lagged out (which I doubt). Kinda frustrating to put 2 hours and not get any result.

Reach rocks. Period.

Here we go:
1) ODST should have remained an add on campaign
2) Fire Fight should have been left out until Reach in order to include match making and address the lag, quiting and here we go back to the lobby issues

I have not played fire fight because EVERYTIME I try to play someone lags out or quits and back we go the lobby and the remaining people get pissed and leave and now we get to wait all over again for people to join and who knows how long that can take. I have spent more time in the "lobby" than I have in the freaking game. Most of my friends have moved on from ODST and don't be suprised if in a month this game has gone the way of the dodo. Bungie, you're better than this. WTF were you thinking? Oh thats right... $ CHA CHING CHA CHING $

i posted my complaint somewhere else... im sorry im not a big forum person and i didnt know.

im going to shorten this.im on coastal highway trying to get the deja vu achievment with my friends, but at the end when the drop ships are dropping off grunts, jackals, and brutes in the courtyard they stop right before the last set of them come in. so we are just waiting and waiting and waiting. nothing happens for a while now. we checked everywhere to see if we missed an enemy but we know we didnt because we got the next checkpoint, just the enemies never came. i posted up the video in my fileshare if it helps. but i really hope bungie can do something about this because that is the last achievment i need to get recon.
