Since the game is going back to when Reach fell to the covanent, I was thinking why not downgrade a few of the attributes of the spartans and their armor.

For instance, since the shielding technology for the spartan amor was fairly new, why not have the sheilds fail at random times throughout the game, but not all the time,.

What I mean as random is to never have the shialds fail at the same point every game, instead have them fail at different times. The shields could fail in the middle of a firefight or fail when no one is around.

I know at alot of people will think this is a very bad idea and that a spartan never has problems, but I was thinking that for once throw in some challenges and obstacles that make you think about what you are doing. So, instead of always charging into a fight and always relying on your sheilds to keep you safe, you must now play smarter and devolpe a stategy, but when the shields are not failing they will still give you enough protection so you can run in guns blazing.

Yes I do know that this idea would eventually get on alot of peoples nerves,to solve this problem, you can create an option wheather or not to have random shielding or not to have random shielding. Oh and have a warning system to alert you when your shields are about to fail.

Also, be free to give other ideas that you might want to see in the game.

Nah, the armor never had problems with falling shields that I remember.

Though the shield strength shouldnt be as good as Halo 3. It will be Mark IV? or V w/e so I mean its not as good a setup.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

All Spartans were wearing Mjolnir Mk V armor when Reach fell. In Halo 2 and 3 you played i Mjolnir Mk VI, BUT in Halo 1 you were in Mk V.

Effectively what I am getting at is that the game should feel and play like Halo CE. Weaker shields that take longer to respawn, health and health packs. Somewhat faster running, much lower jumping. And best of all. FALL DAMAGE *dun dun DUUUUN*

I agree with you about having the game be like CE, and I am suggesting failing shields because it adds a new experience.

Yes, I know that spartans wore Mark V, but what I am getting at is the armor is not perfect and it would take more prototypes than just Mark IV and Mark V to get every bug worked out.

Even though Halo CE, did not have this, Halo Reach is a completly different game.

Nope, Master Chief was issued THAT armor at the exact same time as every Spartan that fought on Reach, and it never had a tune up or a fix. The Armor was perfect as soon as it was given to the Spartans.

All Spartan-II-'s(except Gray team and Kurt) were wearing Mjolnir Mk V armor when Reach fell. In Halo 2 and 3 you played i Mjolnir Mk VI, BUT in Halo 1 you were in Mk V.

fixd

Yeah, but they werent at the Battle for Reach, so they don't count :P

Don't hate... ...loathe.

You must have thought of this post after watching the flying bike excape sceene in Judge Dred.

This is as good of an idea as having the controles swap from inverted to non inverted ramdomly on the fly. A truly awful idea, really just plan bad.

ALRIGHT JUST FORGET ABOUT THE BOOKS AND THAT EVERYTHING IS PERFECT, NOTHING IS PERFECT. The shields wont be perfect, because everything that needs power will always drain power, a spartans sheilds are no different, and they will use enough power to have unexpected faliure. Also, once again its a completly new game with new senerios and armor wont be perfect, no matter how much advanced a civilization gets there will always be flaws with technology.

And yes Master Chiefs armor was upgraded to a Mark VI in Halo 2.

To be honest, this a pretty terrible idea. Just imagine this; you're being swarmed by Elites, Grunts, and Jackals. And when you get out of cover to fight them, your shields fail, and you're screwed. That's not exactly going to be a "fun" time.

Yeah, I would love to have a random game that'll be next to impossible to beat on legendary because of random shield failures. /sarcasm

No, as said, MC never changed armor between the battle of Reach and Halo, all Spartans on Reach had the same armors.

Spartan shields were developed from a Jackal Shield gauntlet. The only time they failed was when the powersupply was under to much strain, and that was when the person in the shield got shot at. How would they logically fail at one point, and the next, not fail without getting any upgrades. Also, don't forget about the books, they are a part of the story.

The powersupply is a small fusion reactor, if I recall correctly. You know how long an AAA fusion battery could light a flashlight? Like, a lifetime, and the light would be on, all the time.

As fun as it might sound to you, to me, it would just be frustrating. I bet it would be frustrating to alot of other players too.

Im not saying that the shields should fail all of the time but at times of mop up duty, when you finish a fight, or just walking. Also I should have been more specific on the idea, but the sheilds dont fail forever just a second or two.

But one thing I am failing to understand is why everyone wants to go by the book, yes I know the book told us about reach and what went on, but why would you want to play a game that you already know how the fight began and ended. To me thats lame, I am just propossing that the game be different from the book, introduce new aspects to war that would actually happen. I know the idea of failing shields isnt the best but its just an IDEA.
