Its him it says on his profile in odst the he was on reach and the guy in the pic is holding a knife much like the knife Eddie uses.

Thoughts?

this is half stupid.

why would HE be one of the hero when you could have SPARTANS be heroes instead, something fans have always wanted to see (multiple spartans)?

odst is separate from the franchise. buck and eddie (I didn't even know his name?) might have been on reach, but if they appear it'll be a cameo at best. they won't be playable let alone heroes.

But Why would you think like that? Its not like I said that They were all ODST's and I am pretty sure that I remember reading that Eddie Buck was so good he may have well been a spartan.

no offense, let me explain you.

reach is well known for being the home of the spartans and the planet where they all fought and eventually died.

in the banner, the man in the middle is clearly the leader of the others (and possibly the hero of the game) so if it is buck, then he'd be commanding spartans (while it'd be the other way around to begin with).
also, since H1, fans have always wanted to see multiple spartans on the field. this game is godsend for bungie, they have the story and setting already made, they just have to create a game out of it.

the men in the banner are most likely to be the heroes, so again IF buck appears on reach, he'll be a NPC.

oh nevermind XD I thought you meant the guy in the middle.

well, I dunno. I wouldn't count on it too much though (one of the spartans in the book loved to use a knife, it's most likely to be him instead...)

buck is a sgt
sgt forge in hw is a sgt
sgt forge commands the spartans in hw
why wouldn't buck command spartans aswell in reach

I agree. John-117 has the highest rank available to a Spartan, Master Cheif Petty Officer, which is the same as Sergeant I believe.

Not all Spartans were MC's, and it seems logical the Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck can command over a group of Spartans, since he is a higher rank.

Just because the Spartan's are Super-Soldiers doesn't mean they command over everyone else.

OK, lemme try to clear this up to the best of my knowledge.

The guy holding the knife is probably Fred. Fred was another spartan close to chief who LOVED his knife. I'm 99% sure that ALL of the people in the picture are spartans. And I will tell you why.
The book saying what happened to Reach after the fall of said planet (first strike)includes almost all of the surviving spartan II's. the spartans standing there there are most likely (front left to right):

Sam, he was always taller than the other spartans, and much stronger.

Kelly, she waas relatively small but very very fast

Chief, I say this because mostly, the leader in pictures stands in the middle, plus his favorite weapon always was the assault rifle

Fred, I've already said why

and Linda, she was an amazing sniper. Once, when she had taken out 2 targets with 2 shots, chief said he wasn't sure which of them she had trageted first.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read it in English, thank a soldier.

in halo reach, there is spartans because it is the spartan homeworld :-). Eddie goes abck to reach im sure because he has been there before. Perhaps he goes there for his missing sqaud mates.

Like I said before, I highly doubt that the person in the picture is Buck, or that Buck will even be in the game at all.

As for your spartan "homeworld" part, that isn't exactly true now, the spartans came from many different planet, they just were all trained on Reach, if that's what you meant.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

How Buck escaped Reach is a mystery, and Nathan Fillion has suggested involvement in Halo: Reach a few times.

Buck's described as being the best of the best, and if he was any better he may as well be a Spartan. Why shouldn't he be in Reach? He's a great character and I think it would be interesting to have a side-story away from the Spartans.

Buck was on Reach, but the soldier in the banner probably isn't him.
