I definitely do! Back in the old hotness I had great chapters. My chapter Echo630 was a miscelaneous chapter. It reached 40 some members and was a really cool place to check out. Then I disbanned it. After that I had a chapter called Chapter Guide. It was like Chapter Founders, but on crack. We exploited some of the coolest tricks in chapter building to make more advanced databases and gain more members. I can't remember how much members were in it before I disbanned it, but I remember I had 11 members in the members que(can never spell that) that wanted to join over night. After that I made a chapter called The Imposter Army. Very awesome chapter. It took all the coolness from Echo630 (the chapter), and all of the chapter tricks from Chapter Guide. Had nearly sixty members when I disbanned it (I don't keep chapters for long).

After that I made another chater. What was it called? I don't even remember. How much members? Nada.

If you ask me, the new hotness kind of ruined the chapter(now groups) system. What do you think?

I was definitely a bigger fan of the older chapter styles -- threaded forums, and many many hacks and workarounds to make the DB's your own.

We did lose a lot of abilities when the new hotness hit.

The new hawtness just makes everything look completely the same, that's why I loved the customization of the last 7th Column.

Definitely. Now I barely remember those database customizers....And everyone knows that the best of chapters had those things.

I have seen how the old column looked, even though I joined during the new hotness. This is what I have to say:

- The activity meter (log) looked cool.
- I thought it was nice how it showed which members were online.
- I think they had an Events box as well (or something like that).

But actually, I prefer these kind of posts rather than threaded posts. But maybe that is just me...yeah...

Yes.....But if you were to have joined in the pre-new hotness and seen how much more active and fun the old chapters were then you probably wouldn't even be on these forums. Seriously, I only started posting in the forums because the new hotness came.

Check out HBO. It's a lot easier to keep track of tangents in a thread with a threaded listing.
People also don't have to read posts that might not be of interest to them. It works a lot better. Each post has a specific link, so you can just skip over known spammers and whatnot.

I'll be on my own side.

i joined shortly before the new hotness was implemented i think(same day as Frankie, i might add), and even after i joined, i had no idea that groups existed. i do remember the post counter though. i had a grand total of 3 before it was removed.

I remember Rip's post counter... He used to tally up posts. When the new hotness came I was fourth on Rip's list of active members... soon due for my 1000th post too, and a nice little thread dedicated to me. I had 700-some, and if I recall Joey had just made 1000.

That was stupid. So was the whole "let's classify all the permutations of 'noob' we can think of" thing that people did. I want to take a look at that old b.net forum data though, if Bungie kept it. I vaguely remember posting, and then seeing the foreboding webmaster image telling us that something new was coming.

Basically, all I want to know is whether I got the last post on the old Underground. :)

Reiginko, still wondering about being the last post on the old website?

I hated that stupid post counter, it made my joining date look like nothing, lol.

Chapters are still quite active, as an escape from the main forum.

And threaded view was HORRIBLE, especially if a post had quite a few replies.

It sounds as though people were more inclined to stick with, and be active in, their groups... where as now they have a life span of only a few weeks... or they last longer with about 100 members, of which only about 10 post at all...

There were lots of stupid things back then. They were still fun :P

We are also not satisfied with the current state of the group system. At the time of the redesign, the Halo 2 stat system took priority. It was the right decision, but we are planning to revisit the group system sometime in the future to see what can be improved in terms of discoverability and customization, as well as feature set.

No promises, but it is "on our list".

The threaded view was actually quite excellent if you had the option to have all posts visible without opening them in a link. It was an option that made it possible for me, as a 56k user, to read an entire day's worth of activity while only loading one page... back when an entire day's worth of activity WAS on page :P

Excellent! The active-o-meter and the events list are top priority for the people I know. Oh, and the ability to remove the blam! filter within chapters... Mine are a foul mouthed lot.

Hopefully not near "Reimplimentation of Color TMT"

Otherwise, Awesome
