How about instead of a new game just a live version of halo:ce and lets see who's playing what!

You're so right...I've been saying that bungie should make Halo:ce live for as long as there were talks of a halo 2 online component. I would never need to buy another halo game...and thats the problem I guess, bungie doesn't want to stop raking in profits...

It's better to be judged by twelve, than to be carried by six.

Well, if Reach ends up lacking the BR, hopefully the Halo 3 ODST pistol (As I doubt we will se the CE pistol with that kind of power). It would be a fine substitute.

I like the ODST pistol, but I wouldn't complain about a Halo 3 magnum with a scope.

I vote for this 1.

About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

ODST magnum without a silencer.

in multiplayer I think it would be a good trade off for the BR just make it

6 head shot kill, full clip for body shots

I'm someone you knew, maybe even were friends with.....but from another time...another place.

The Mayans were the most epic trolls EVAR.

I'd go with the ODST pistol. the CE one was waaaaaaaaaaaaay too strong.
It'd kill Banshee's with a single mag. O.O

Halo 1 pistol was just ridiculos. Long range, strong, accurate all into one pistol? Sure in reality thats good but it would be all that possible. Maybe a mix of the Halo 3 and halo 3 ODST pistol will be good.

Whiners gonna whine about whiners.

All the handguns from all the games.

Wouldn't it be cool if you be able to chose with pistol.(If i knew you guys really like the halo ce pistol i would have put it in the poll.)The halo pistol or the halo odst pistol, and the halo ce pistol

ODST pistol (no scope).

As much as I like scoping with a pistol; scopes and pistols don't belong together. I think that if you wan't a pistol with a scope you should go pick up a Covenant Carbine or BR. Pistols should be quick to switch to so you can take out an enemy with low shields at a fairly close range, not complete kill machines. In other words they should be important parts in the killing machine, like gears in a clock.

Maybe just upgrade the Halo 3 Pistol:

1) 2x Scope
2) 12 round mag
3) 5 headshot/10 bodyshot kill
4) About the same accuracy as Halo 3 pistol now
5) Fire rate about the same as carbine

Either this is going to fail tragically or It'll actually work and I'll be a god among men...

thats because the magnum was designed to be a beast weapon, have you ever shot a 44 magnum? those pistols huge and massively powerful, and the bullets are just as big. Since it isnt an automatic weapon it has a lot more power behind it and the bullets were armor piercing so it being able to drop a banshee makes sense.

also, one other thing. the year is what 2552 or something like that? I remember people complaining about the weapons because they weren't advanced way back in halo 1 and 2. Since tech has advanced it is safe to say a pistol could be that powerful, what im wondering is why it ist energy based by then. but we gotta stick with what there is, fact of the matter is that a number of beastly pistols isn't way out of wack. Its several hundred years from now and assuming we don't use energy based weapons by that time or blow our selves up, a pistol or even a gun like that isnt out of the unsc's grasp.

Gamertag: Reptile7
Deadly Aneurysm

I'm good with either one. Rather go with the original though since this is before the first Halo.

  • 10.01.2009 12:58 PM PDT

Put both in. Give the ODST pistol a scope but less damage, and make the Halo 3 pistol CQB with high armor piercing.

  • 10.01.2009 12:59 PM PDT

They should bring back the Halo CE pistol in the form of the BR(single shot), because it doesn't make sense for a pistol to have a scope and to be that powerful.

The problem with Halo 3 is that there is no reliable mid-range weapon, therefore dumbing combat down since the only way to get consistent results is to be in close range. This is in part due to the BR sucking with it's ridiculous spread and packet loss.

If Bungie gives us a single-shot, 2x scope weapon that kills in 3-4 shots and has a Halo CE pistol-esque RoF that has no spread and is immune to packet loss, then mid-range combat will be consistently viable and the game will be more fun and challenging.

I'm not saying it has to be overpowered, either. The Halo CE pistol still could lose at close range to rockets, sniper, and perhaps the shotgun, and could lose at long range to the sniper. The beauty of it is that the pistol-wielder always had a fighting chance, but the power weapon-holder had a slight advantage, but not to the extent of Sniper/Laser/Rockets vs almost anything in Halo 3.

  • 10.01.2009 1:28 PM PDT

The Halo 1 Pistol. And no, it isn't like a sniper. There is in fact bullet spread, and you actually have to be good to use it. The majority of the time it'll take 5 shots to kill, because people aren't good enough to 3sk. Even in Halo PC where you can use a mouse "Pros" only get 3sks maybe 1/4 of the time. When you're far away your accuracy is so off you can't 3sk because the bullet spread is just barely off. Anyone who says the H1 pistol is a "Sniper" needs to go play it for 10 minutes. I say use the H3:ODST pistol, with a 4-5sk (including the last hs,) and 6-7 w/o headshots.

  • 10.01.2009 1:51 PM PDT

Some of you guys are getting your Halo CE pistol specs wrong
Its:
*3 headshots
*5 bodyshots
*Range is 25 meters if I'm not mistaken.
*There is no bullet spread if you click every time you shoot
*There is considerable bullet spread if you shoot full auto
*It has a 2x scope that slightly increases accuracy when shooting semi auto
*As with all guns in halo ce, the user must lead shots a fair amount while playing over the internet.
*Over a lan connection some leading is needed.
*While hosting a game virtually no leading is needed.

It was (and still is) hands down the most versatile weapon in all of the halo games. If you think the BR is over used, play a game of halo pc. You'll soon have a new definition of "overused". In the hands of a seasoned player, the pistol in halo ce could easily outdo any weapon at mid-range and have a good chance of beating anything at close range except maybe a rocket up close. In halo ce, the pistol is more important to a player than a BR is in halo 3. In halo 3, there are quite a few situations where trading the BR for another weapon would be more useful. This is not the case in halo ce. In halo ce dropping your pistol is like dropping your dominant arm.
In conclusion, if the halo ce pistol was introduced into reach, we would have the same BR problem we have in halo 3 but twice as bad.

Big Team Battle Multiflag/Slayer on Standoff/Valhalla/Sandtrap/Avalanche = Win

I'd rather have a decent pistol then two stinky pistols that are abandoned for the majority of MM Games.

Hello! Welcome to ProphecyXYZ / LashingRaptor's profile!

ProphecyXYZ is my current Gamertag, and username on pretty much everything. LashingRaptor was my first, randomly generated, Gamertag. Add me up for some fun, awesome matches! (E-Harmony, much?)

I specialize in Driving and Piloting, expect me to get mad if you take the Banshee / Warthog / Falcon when your don't even know how to drive. I write machinimas, and I voice act often.

The Automag and The Magnum.

But they should make the automag weaker (5-6 Headshots in multiplayer, high accuracy) and remove the BR.

They should also make the magnum stronger (2-3 Headshots in multiplayer, medium-low accuracy)

Either this is going to fail tragically or It'll actually work and I'll be a god among men...

The BR has to stay, I love that gun. I can get a kill with the magnum easily and even more easily with the BR. Im sorry but that gun is a keeper unless you want to up the AR damage and decrease its spread which hardly anyone wants to do.

  • 10.05.2009 6:19 AM PDT

How about the automag exactly the way it is (maybe a different skin or something), but with the halo 1 pistol melee animation?

Laughing At Nothing

The Halo CE pistol was a very potent weapon, and the reality is that it was almost too powerful. The H2 battle rifle replaced the Halo CE pistol; their stats and strengths are very similar.

So, in Halo 2 SINCE the BR took the Pistols place (IMO beeteedubbayou) they needed a pistol, and the H2 pistol was born... And we all know how that turned out. It was very, very weak, and would only be useful to shoot someone without shields (and even then it took a couple rounds to put them down).

So in Halo three they brought back the power of the Halo CE pistol, but put it on a gun without a scope, and it kicks like a mule. Don't get me wrong, for Halo 3's gameplay, it fits. But, again it is a very useless weapon.

ODST, I think, they finally made the pistol very well. It was not overpowered, it was very accurate. With the scope out of the equation, I would still view the ODST pistol as a very balanced weapon... It could possibly fair well in a multiplayer situation... SO if they choose to add a scope to a pistol and add it to Reach, I hope it is the ODST one, as unlikely as that is.
