...?

I never did like that thing...wouldn't it be awesome if the animation was throwing the bubble shield straight into the ground like the Starry Night ad?

It doesn't have to be dramatic-looking or anything.

Halo 3 O.D.S.T september 22, 2009 with silenced wepons also comes with all the map packs on halo 3

You mean like that grenade that chief threw down and it protected him from that wraith?

That would be cool; like a grenade bubble shield

Assuming that equipment is in the game.
Of course.

Some of the other equipment would also benefit from some changes IMO, and I would rather like to see some UNSC items fill out some spots (like the trip mine and the flare, for example).

Just throwing it out there.

Wouldn't it just roll down if it was on a slope? Thus still making you vulnerable to oncoming fire.

Yeah the equipment shape for the bubble shield is kinda awkward. They should have done the one from the trailer.

Mythical Group

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

NO!

I love the tripod because, since it's stable, you can put it on a movable object and make it portable.

Heheh.

But if you take out the tripod, now you can plant it straight into the vehicle or something.

Seriously though, I see where the original idea has some flaws. If you are standing on a crate or something, where you aren't on a surface you can dig into, the tripod makes a lot more sense.

the bubble shield originally looked like the radar jammer and energy drain...like if you deployed it on a hill it would roll

  • 09.27.2009 12:16 PM PDT

Just passing through life and trying to kill the time.

If it was like the one in Starry Night it would be small enough to carry in your pocket. You could attach it to your belt or something and use a weapon with a long barrel to shoot out of it. I'm assuming the shield itself would be the same size as the one in Starry Night.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

The original concept for in-game use was actually similar to the Flare/Radar Jammer/Power Drain in appearance. It would actually roll down hills so you'd still have to be on your toes when using it.

So there were three designs down the line, then?

There is:
The final design, which, though UNSC (according to Halopedia), looks suspiciously Forerunner/ Covenant.

The grenade type, from the Starry night ad. Compact, sleek, and creates a shield that would only hold one occupant and would burn out if enough damage is taken (like a single Wraith mortar :D).

The original design, where it looks like those three other equipment and would roll around. Thank god that one didn't make it.

Honestly I would take the Beta trip mine over almost any other new equipment.

I never played the Halo 3 Beta but I heard the beta Trip Mine was a beast.

Anything is better than the final Trip Mine...

  • 09.27.2009 2:15 PM PDT

In Soviet Russia, Halo plays YOU!

There are tons of videos on youtube of the Beta Tripmine.
That thing was crazy powerful. Blow the crap out of a full, undamaged warthog. It was magnetic too, so you could stick it to the bottom and ambush people.

But they took it out because of all the betrayals it caused.

So like you could throw the grenade and the bubble shield would appear when it hit the ground.

Pretty much.

In first-person view you see your charcter, bubble shield in hand, and throwing it straight into the ground.

If your are above dirt or something the "grenade" would be dug into the ground; if not, the greande would collapse and be a dome, stuck above the ground and unable to move.

The bubble would show up in the same way it would in Halo 3.

Ugh, Jackal Shields. I'd rather have a crappy Trip Mine in a Halo game than Bungie making that thing usable.
