Subject: To Bungie: Please don't incorporate Natal into Halo: Reach

Once you go Black you never go back!

I've heard that Reach is going to be incorporating Natal and here's what I think about it and why it should NOT be in the new Halo.

Microsoft's "Project Natal" is a joke. Natal is nothing more than an attempt to combat Nintendo in the "family/ childs" video game market. The games that will be Natal compatable will most likely be built around Natal, and will be very primitive video games.

Sure Natal is going to sell mass Xbox's to kids through ads on the Disney Channel. Sure Natal will tack an extra year or two onto the platforms life-span before the new Xbox comes out. But do you really want to be "acting out" a video game? Do you really want to be trying to perform some task for the video game when you could be relaxing on the couch playing Bungie's new masterpiece, like how Halo has always been?

Incorporating Natal into the game would also (I would assume) take a huge bite out of the games processing power. That means junk graphics and shorter gameplay with less features.

Bungie: I love Halo. It's the epitome of video gaming to me, and it has "console shooter" on lock. I feel like if Natal is incorporated it'll just be another mime-Wii game.

Probably compatable, but not necessary.

O HAI THAR!

mah s3cret inf0z....you c0uld not see tH3m!

I agree, I would hate for a Halo FPS to turn into some "Flail Your Arms to Kill an Elite!" kind of thing....

Analog controller for me, please...

This. Call me crazy, but I don't think a forum post will be able to persuade them either way at this point.

You'll never know until you try~

BOO-YAH!

natal is going to be better than the wii because it does more than just senses motion, which will open more possibilities

It really depends on how they use it in the game. if leaning ur body lets u peak around corners while using an xbox controller im down. I dnt want to have to jump around my apartment.

Big Team Battle Multiflag/Slayer on Standoff/Valhalla/Sandtrap/Avalanche = Win

A mini-natal arcade game where you have to fight as an elite/spartan with an energy sword would be cool. Would be 1000x better then Punchout.

Just imagine this, an arena and two elites dueling to the death.
Or the Arbiter facing a Brute Chieftain with his sword.
OR MASTER CHIEF WITH HIS FISTS KICKIN' ARSE!

I guess that could work. But in true lazy boy fashion I really don't want to have to move anything other than my fingers to work the controller haha.

Signatures are for squares.

This won't change anything.

The game has been in development for 2 years, it's to late to add or remove it now.

I could see how that would appeal to a nine year old, but I'm an adult and instead of jumping around my living room like an idiot miming a video game I could work out or clean... or interact with my wife.

I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

I hate everything about Natal, if I wanted Natal I would buy a wii. Reach would be ruined if Bungie made it Natal compatable, but I highly doubt they would.

Then think about this, the people over at Natal HQ made Burnout Paradise compatible with Natal. I think it could be amazing driving with Natal, but FPS games require another kind of finesse (though I believe it is possible and could be fun).

You're looking at it wrong- at the very worst Natal will bring the very best of the cool looking VR machines from the arcades home.

Honestly I was just trying to find a way to make Natal and Halo work out instead of completely denying a new concept, but I guess thats just too much of a challenge.

I had a good chuckle when the kitty leaped into the camera, which quickly became an obstacle for the players. Same goes with the "Drunk Drivers" bit.

Anyway, just as long as it doesn't force us to buy the camera for Halo: Reach, then it's all good in my book.

Not necessarily true as far as too late to add it.

Burnout Paradise was demo'd using Natal, and Natal hadn't even been announced when BP was released.

Honestly, it's not like they're going to make the entire game a motion sensitive game, even if they do incorporate it, it'll probably be a preference option.

ON TOPIC fail

Back on... I am kinda disappointed in the lack of trust that I see here for Bungie. Like the main poster said, "sitting back on your couch enjoying a MASTERPIECE".

While I agree that Natal is a bit gimmicky... think about SOMe possibilities that would be cool. Like freeing up a button on the controller by getting rid of an action button and replacing with us actually making a motion

ex:

reaching out with your right hand and touching a switch to open a door.

Taking your hand off your remote and throwing a nade? sick.

Priming a grenade and holding it back then throwing it?

As any apartan, simply reach behind your back over your shoulder to switch weapons?? Awesome.

I'm just saying, have a little faith in Bungie - remember too that they split from Microsoft so this isnt a "forced to use Natal" situation. Bungie, I am sure, is doing this on their own AWESOME terms.

word to your mom

lol

And how is that.

I agree, Natal and motion sensors in general would be terrible for FPS's. Has anyone tried playing an FPS game on the Wii? The controls are terrible, and gameplay is not fun at all. When the only fun game type is rockets, your game fails.

Maybe I'm living in the past, but I am not a fan of motion sensors in video games at all. I like being able to be precise, and using your body to control actions on screen is anything but precise.

I play video games to relax, not to get a cardio workout. I am very athletic and in shape, but I do not want to have to work up a sweat to play Halo.
