Subject: We -should- start out as Spartan children and progress from there.

Alot of people know the story, and know how the Spartans began. Why shouldn't we experience it for ourselves? Imagine just going about your day at school and actually having Dr. Halsey come to talk to you, and flip the coin that determines the rest of your life for you.

In a previous interview with Bungie on GTTV, they were asked about whether or not the game would be a "Squad Based" shooter.."Without any of the baggage of sort of squad-based combat, I think that would be a safe assumption."
Imagine growing up with and coming to genuinely care about the squadmates closest to you. The impact would be so much greater if one of them had to make the ultimate sacrifice at some point, or you needed to rush to save their lives.

As well, it could truly help flesh out what may be the biggest character of all in the game, the planet itself. I might be asking for too much here, but if we wind up watching Reach being glassed, I want to feel as if the planet I grew up on and came to know is truly being destroyed right before my eyes. As if my home was being destroyed.

Redundant to some of us, sure, but I'd personally be very interested to experience it for myself. I'm not necessarily talking about sitting in front of a holo-panel watching the Battle of Thermopylae, or climbing ropes to ring a bell, or doing everything John did in the books (We don't even know if it's going to be about him; it's unlikely though) Hell, something like the beginning of Republic Commando would probably work perfectly. Admittedly I'm running off quite a few assumptions here considering we don't know the role we'll actually be playing, but this is what I'd like to see. I'm sure there's plenty of people who love Halo, haven't read the books, and might be a little more than curious about how exactly the Spartans came about as well.

Make us care, Bungie. Make our hearts stop when Reach is destroyed, and the people we come to love die in front of us.

No.

Shut the -blam!- up with these "this is not" posts. This is actually a good idea. A bit too late to change what they probably already have, but a good one. I DO want a game to affect me emotionally. When someone as awesome as sergeant Johnson dies, and I don't even frown, someone's need to do some thinking in the writing department.

Well, if it were following the book.... It wouldn't be Fallout: Reach.

It would be The Fall of Reach.

Nuff said.

Ya know, this could be a good idea, but I'm pretty sure it's not gonna be about the Chief.
