It's become very apparent that Bungie now favors brutes over elites. They have been the main enemy for 2 1/2 games now, meaning they've been the main enemy longer than Elites.

In my opinion, Bungie seriously screwed the Elites over.

Contact Harvest had humanities first contact with the covenant, be with the brutes. Why? Because Halo 3 was on the horizon, and Bungie didn't want to demonize the Elites. They didn't want newcomers to think bad of the elites, only for them to be your allies in the new game.

That's what happened in ODST as well. I feel that Bungie didn't want the causal gamer thinking bad of the Elites, when they are your "friends" in the same game. (SPOILERZ)They didn't want to demonize them, make them big and bad and be the ones who glassed the city.(/SPOILERZ)

I'm worried that Bungie would try to pull something with the brutes again, and give elites the shaft. Elites are the ones responsible for the killing of nearly all the spartans. They nearly caused the human race to go extinct This game should show elites at their worst, but will Bungie pull through?

Thoughts?

I don't see you doing anything to help our country.
Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

They were only the main enemies for Halo 3/ODST, Halo 2 was a mix

GT= Frost1691
No Group Invites.
Worst idea ever...http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=8664824

Well, since Halo: Reach is supposed to a be a prequel, the Elites will still be the highest ranking race in the Covenant. The civil war doesn't take place until midway through Halo 2. I think the Elites will be back as enemies.

Halo CE = Elites
Halo 2 = Elites/ Brutes
Halo 3 = Brutes
ODST = Brutes
Reach = ????

I doubt where fight brutes, as the main enemies at least. The exact timeline is a little fuzzy as to when the brutes actually took over for the elites as the main soldiers. So in ODST it would be possible that it could be brutes, and probably easier for bungie to design and program in a such a short time.
So in Reach I will say that elites will play the main soldiers otherwise you get real screwy time issues fighting brute then elites then brutes again, all because of hierarchy changes withen a o month or two.

Events of Halo 2, especially after Regret's death.

There no match making in ODST because then the ODST would be all like yo we better foo then the Spartans all be like No we better foo then the elites be all like Lets have peace then they shoot elm...but really it should of

Id like brutes with elites sprinkled in.

Sigh... in Halo 2 you kill the prophet of regret, and the prophets distrust the elites.

EVERYTHING with the brutes is fuzzy.

2525. Brutes are main infantry at Harvest.
Supposedly aren't seen again until 2552.
Brutes aren't present in the first invasion of Earth, yet the Audio logs describe sadies first contact was with Brutes, not Elites.
Then The brutes managed to kill ALL the elites in the city withen like 5 minutes, (How the hell did Truth drop off so many covenant MINUTES after Regret jumped?)

Then finally, Brutes are in Halo 3.

And what the hell is up with the power armor? Did all the brutes at High charity decide not to wear it? And why is it that the Halo 2 brutes (without armor) where impervious to infection forms, because of hard skin, but Halo Ward/Halo 3 brutes can be infected?
