Subject: Aiming Down the Sights - No

I love a great deal of things about the Halo games. The story, the weapons, the gameplay. I really love how brilliant it is. But one of the things I love the most about the game, is something many people have a problem with. The one regarding the "fire from the hip" system Bungie uses. Though its not really firing from the hip. Its a shoulder fire using crosshairs. Most games have moved on from the crosshair system that they use but I am glad Bungie has kept it throughout and I love the unique feel I get from it.

I see more and more games going to the aiming down the sights method of play. Mainly Call of Duty and its imitators. But, by all means it works for Call of Duty, that is what they are going for, the realism of present day fighting and WW2. But Halo gives that great feel of a larger than life Science Fiction shooter supported by the larger than life gameplay. To be honest I could not imagine a Halo game (this is what people forget the most, the game part) without those unique crosshairs for each gun.

This is something I hope Bungie continues in Halo Reach, and in the future for their other games.

I agree. Also, in those games where you do aim down the sights, they really don't make it as realistic as it should be. They just make it so you hold the gun straight out infront of you, when in reality, you hold the gun closer to your shoulder and neck, and tilt your head to line it up with the sights (atleast with rifles)

I'm sure they will. There's no reason to aim down the sights when your HUD is linked to the weapon and projects where your gun is aiming.

I've always gotten the impression that "scoped" guns were just doing the same thing but actually magnify the view, not necessarily that we're actually looking through the BR's scope.

I agree. I think they will stick with what they do best. There is no reason for them to move away from it.
