Gotta give you props for this, this was truly amazing, I'd be interested if you would look into the entire Halo Series, I've tried myself to look at the series in the same way you found this, except by just using the Bible and references. Try it or let me know if you're interested

throwning snowballs at cars is like doing a bell ditch. The end result is basically the same: sprinting away from the large man exiting his car who yells profanities, hiding behind a house, and watching as his car patrols the street, waiting to murder you.

Asking the flood for dating advice is like you going up to a bunch of starving Africans and debating the pros and cons of the bacon roll vs the double cheeseburger.

Some one who stands for nothing shall fall for everything.

Wow, this looks to be the real deal! But Vergil the engineer isn't a rogue engineer, the others weren't evil, they covenant just forced them to be bad.

Also, I don't think Bungie was unoriginal though, becauase while they may have had some clues about referncing to Dante's 9 levels of hell, they came up with the story of what happened to the ODST squad and stuff.

This is the opposite of what Halo 3 conveys though, John 117, or John 11:7 is biblical, then there is the ark of the covenant, and of course the flood that wipes out all things. Then there is the number 7, 7 meaning God.

Bungie isn't just full of 30 year old game designers (and Marty) making any game, they are real smart and crafty.

even vahalla becuase some greek history says somthing about a canyon with to towers and a wall around it. or somthing like that i think it was a home of a god or their heaven.

Delta. Alpha. November. Indigo. Echo. Lima.

Danves... I want your brain. Nao!

Honestly this is an amazing find.

風 Swift as the wind
林 Quiet as the forest
火 Conquer like the fire
山 Steady as the mountain

At least Dante's Divine Comedy is better written and more entertaining than ODST's plot.

When all hope seems lost, and the ground is littered with the bodies of our fallen comrades, wait for the thunderous crash of my rifle, and I shall lead us to salvation.

Congrats, Danves! For all those naysayers, this has all finally been CONFIRMED AS FACT:

Lee said that some players have noticed that the story is an allegory of Dante's Inferno and the story of moving through the nine levels of Hell. While most other civilians are fleeing the destruction of the city, Sadie goes through the various circles of Hell, moving into the center of the city as it's being evacuated. Each character she meets has a counterpart in Dante's Inferno. Since the story is so dramatic, the player really wants to find out what happens to this woman and her family. In a lot of ways, Sadie's Story helps flesh out the game and humanize the story.

you know... bungie probably didnt even intend it to be this way its probably a random happening that you just found to match up with the game... for some reason each halo game has to have some religious crap evolving around it... then again... i did hear mickey (in kizingo blvd.) when i got a head shot on a grunt "praise jah! jah is short for jehovah, jehovah = jehovahs witnesses... oh god this game is fricken religious... D=

The Divine Comedy is not a religious work. If you read the OP you would have learned that it was a social satire.

Also jah is not short for jehovah, jah is the god that rastafarians worship, and according to that religion jah is pretty much just mother earth. In popular culture though jah has come to kind of just be a catch phrase for pot smoking reggae fans. (true rastafarians do have their own religion in case you doubt that look it up.)

We discussed your thread a bit on the episode of Podtacular that we recorded last night and specifically "shouted out" Danves and NinjaTheory. Thanks a bunch for working on this!

The episode #205 will be posted sometime between Sunday and Tuesday. In the meantime you can check out our past 4 years of Halo discussions on the site.

I'm like a rock. Hard, lazy, hopeless, and charismatic/boring.

I'm perfect, you're not. Can you handle that? I think I'll manage.

REDACTED!- means its not going to happen.

I knew the whole time but didn't think much of the archetype. It was portrayed well though I suppose.

That guy you killed the other week.

Something I just realized in relation to another thread. Someone noted that in each of the ODST''s code numbers there are two letters at the end which, when compared to the ODST's names, are there initials. And the Rookies just happens to be J.D. which when reversed are D.J. could it possibly be Dante? Although when I wiki'd it the guy's initials were J.A.

Wow, that's brilliant. Only Bungie would pull this off.
Gives "hell-jumpers" a whole new meaning, doesn't it?
