The Halo REACH Script (post thoughts in thread)

Writing Lead of Whisper Studios. Check out Heron!

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

The Drone Hive is like Satan, then the facility leads further down to the Ark portal (Purgatory), up into the Earthly paradise/Eden (the location of the portal is by where humanity first evolved), and to the 10 circles of Heaven beyond (the Ark safehaven); this setup would also be paralleled by other religions like Ark = Valhalla in Norse.

Hey, never said I was the first to find it out, I'm just glad that other people are making connections =)

Edit:

Haha, just looked at the links, and the second one is a repost of this exact thread. So as far as I know, (aside from speculation before the game was released) the thread on HBO (where your first link got its info from) was the first to post about this.

If only people read my threads....

This is very interesting

I did come across something though, someone might have already said it, but oh well

I was on firefight on Chasm 10, and I noticed a sign that said "Sublevel 10"
I wonder what that means....

I already knew this, it is quite awesome, I must say.

It's one of the levels in the underground ONI facility.

Also, i'm glad i'm not the only one to appreciate the brilliance of Bungie. If you look closer, you'll find many more references to many other things subtly included within a video game.

If you already live in heaven, Where do you go when you die?

The fact alone that the roman poet is named virgil is convincing me that Bungie is full of cleverly (almost)plaguerizing storywriters

Just wondering, but does Bungie ever "confirm" that people "have something" whenever they try and make references from the game to something else?

I'm not too sure. But I do know that Fourth Wall, the guys who did the audio logs, confirmed that the audio logs were very heavily based off of Dante's Inferno. It would only make sense that at least SOME of ODST (aside from the logs) would be referencing it. Although, Bungie has a tendency to be secretive, so I think they'll just want to keep us guessing, even if we were (somewhat) correct =P

Holy crap Danves, stop bumping (you have over 50 posts in this thread alone and yes I realise the irony in bumping the thread myself).

What you've said, and what the topic is about is a very, VERY loose theory. Heck you could relate the same type of theory to other games and yield the same result.

I'm sure you're happy that you made a popular thread and all, but you hardly have enough facts to relate the ODST story to the Divine Comedy.

  • 11.01.2009 8:00 PM PDT

Wow nice job.I did notice the nine circles in the logs and thought of Dante's Inferno but that's as far as I got. Really interesting stuff.

U mad? I never bumped my topic. I always posted in relation to the theory, or to clarify things. Is that bad? =P

I DO have proof that Sadie's Story was very heavily based off of Dante's Inferno, since Fourth Wall confirmed this themselves about 2/3 of the way through this article: Link. And since it would be absolutely idiotic to include a full-fledged sidestory in the game that is heavily based off of a historical text and to NOT reference the text at least a little bit in the game itself, you can pretty much assume that Bungie intended for SOME of the game to reference the Inferno.

Although, who said that any of this was a fact? Until we can have Bungie confirm it, everything I wrote is still just a theory. And some of the posters in here REALLY went on tangents, and were suggesting things I'm extremely wary to connect with the Divine Comedy.

I'm still sticking to my guns, though. It's pretty damned easy to see the connections, if you've actually read it.

Oh, and... *bump*
Just for you =D

  • 11.02.2009 1:45 PM PDT

Well, I am damn impressed, I would've never thought of this. Though the Cirlces and Arc sections of each audio log still baffle me.

Wow, sorry, my computer is retarded, it posted this in here, when it was supposed to be in another thread.

I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before;

When you get all 29 audio logs in New Mombasa you then have to do Data Hive to get the last one. When you do Data Hive - with 29 audio logs, the Police person will survive, and drop down to the nineth level. He then goes to the really icey bit, and he then checks if the Doc is dead (where you can get the 30th log). Afterwards he turns on the Rookie and you have to kill him.

Now what's that? Oh yes. Treason!

  • 11.04.2009 12:54 PM PDT

Man, I ain't got time to be payin' bills, but I do got time to play Xbox.

They should make all classical epics like halo...

Imagine Hamlet getting revenge on Claudius by running over him with a mongoose.

  • 11.06.2009 7:41 PM PDT

Just throwing this out there, but could the 9 rings of hell connect to the Halo rings?
