Since researching Reach it seems very likely that you will be Master Chief, undergoing his spartan transformation and leading his team, before the fall of Reach. Well that is my hope. It would be a very interesting story and would provide alot of backstory to the game that has only been briefly mentioned.

The problem I see with this is that there is no story relevant there for a game. It's just too much character development to make it into a real game. A movie on the other hand would fit it perfectly.

Doubtful.

Before Reach, there were no sightings of elites. That means grinding through jackals and grunts for most the game.

And during Reach, Chief led a three man Blue team to destroy the navigational core of a computer in a satellite in orbit. This took him 10-15 minutes.

He isn't going to be the main character of the game. We will be focusing on the Spartans of the Red Team on the ground of Reach.

It takes a real man to back down from a fight, but it takes a spartan to finish it!

Exactly! Brian said in the G4 interview that they never really told chiefs story enless you read the books! You sir are right! At least I hope. I loved Fall od reach and First Strike

Or we could be possibly leading one of the 300 spartans that were in the spartan III program! They never really said what happened to them.

I'm pretty sure the Spartan III program happened after Reach. They kinda all died anyways.

I'm pretty sure he was in the battle of reach as a spartan. He did more than a 15 minute mission.

Wait let me check the date in the book

The MC has very little to do with the Fall of Reach.

In fact, he just plain ain't there for the majority of it. He conducts that first mission on orbital station to destroy the NAV data on the Circumference (a ship involved in a black op by Colonel Ackerson of the SIII program).

And then he's gone. Off to blow up a big special ring. He then comes back to scoop up his buddies on Reach after the Covenant have their way with it. Then First Strike happens. Then Halo 2. etc. etc. here we are yay we won.

As Cheewawa said in another post, the MC will more than likely have a cameo in the game. Heck, he might even be an unlockable character in the game's multiplayer modes. Can anyone say Legendary game beating reward?

But the point here is, the MC will not be critical to the events on Reach. It will be the story of a different set of Spartans. Hopefully we can experience playing as some of our favorites from the books (like Kelly, Linda, hopefully Kurt or Fred). Time will tell.

But rest assured, all signs point to the game not starring the MC. Perhaps in a few months when Bungie launches some more info on Reach, then you weirdos and your time travel theories will catch on to reality.

No, he never left orbit. He was on Reach before the attack testing out combat abilities when one of the naval high command tried to kill him with a heavy attack craft and was ambushed also by a bunch of ODST's (can't remember if that was before or after the test). But after most of that happened, he was on the Pillar of Autumn, assigned to disable an AI within a station before the Covenant got to it and was then back on the PoA upon slip-jumping away from Reach to lure the Covenant away from the planet. MC was of almost no significance to Reach.

Oh, and a pair of hunters. How could I forget?

...I distinctly remember reading the section of Fall of Reach where the spartans were at a meeting where they were being briefed on the "Lets go capture a prophet" mission where they were going over the different species of the covenant. They said that they knew of a caste of space commanders / warriors called Elites but they have never been observed in battle. Or something. I may be wrong.

Spartan threes were around in 2542. Reach fell in 2552.

you are probably going to switch off missions, each as a different spartan in Blue Team in the battle of Reach not unlike odst (except that these wont be flashback). like a mission will be john in the space docks above reach then back on the ground taking back some HQ as kelly or whatnot.. thats my theory

Linda is dead during the whole Reach event after John (MC) left the first time.

There are over 10 unknown Spartans on Reach much enough to focus on for the game.

I think that the only way we can play as Chief is if they do a multi-person storyline. To clarify, if one mission you're Fred (Destroying the Covenant Destroyer.) Next your Kelly (During some other mission). Then you play as members of Gamma Team (During the retreat to Castle Base), Delta Team (For the rescuing of Whitcomb), and any other Spartans I forgot about. The only way you can play as Chief, is if they give you the mission of him destroying the Nav. Data aboard the Circumference.

Well ODST proves they like doing multi character storylines, I can see it working in Reach.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Wrong.

Actually right according to the novel Fall of Reach, it was Halo Wars that destroyed that Canon.

Anyway, I am almost completely certain that we will not play anything aside from the Battle for Reach itself. No Master Chief (as he never fought on the surface during that battle). And no training. We will see from a new perspective, and will play battles that did not appear in the books.
