Subject: Reach Matchmaking changes: People who Quit Early

One of the worst things that is a constant occurrence in the Halo 3 matchmaking multiplayer is the when you join a ranked game and in the middle of a good game, someone decides it's a good idea to quit. It leaves the team with less people having to work a lot harder to keep up while letting one team either pummel the other team or just getting bored because it's no longer a fun and challenging game. Not only does it deter from the fun of the game it also kills the ranking system that people work so hard on.

I have come up with 2 solutions:

1. Base the ranking system on individual performance rather than team based performance.
Not having to rely on the skills of teammates in order to rank up, and can make the game still fun even though you know you will lose a game because of a quitter. This one I'm not really into because it makes the game less competitive and will just have people trying to pad their stats.

2. Jumping in and out of games in progress.
Meaning that when someone leaves a full game it searches for a person looking for a game to take over that persons spot. This is a simple solution that has been done in MANY games before that would work for Halo in my opinion. Minor adjustments would have to be made to gametypes or maps for it to work but I know it can.

This might have already been suggested but I'm just tired of not being able to play a full fair game anymore on Halo 3 because of quitters.

Other suggestions are encouraged :]

Personally, I think an actual "skilled" person in Halo 3 is someone who knows how to win with every weapon and combo in the game, not just a single weapon like the BR, Sniper, or even the AR. Of course, that excludes me, as I have yet to get a kill with dual plasma pistols. :D

I had another idea - an autobalance system, like that in Team Fortress 2. Does red team have 4 players while blue has 6? The game would just automatically move the blue player with the lowest amount of points into red to rebalance the teams.

No, there should be no penalty for quitting... at all! If they wanna leave then they an leave jeeeeeeze Bungie doesn't need to watch or penalize someone or every single thing they do.

I didn't say anything about penalizing quitters, but not to penalize the people who actually stick out the game.
This isn't about getting back at quitters, but a way not to punish the people who want to play the game.

thats a great idea. i use to play the orange box xbox 360 version of team fortress, i dont remember the auto balance but still a great idea

I think it should be ok to quit.....if you are in social. In ranked however there should be a more strict penalty. If your gonna play ranked you better know if your gonna have time to finish the game you started.

As 4 ppl who quit at the end to avoid losing rank they should loose 2 rankings. Yes it may seem harsh but it may solve the issue and hopfully keep players from quiting in the future.

Maybe an autobalance feature, or just let people jump into a game already in progress.

autobalance issue would be if you're on the winning team and all of a sudden switching to the losing team. Especially with the ranking system heavily focused on your winning the game.

Message me if you want, I will try to get back as soon as possible.

See you on the forums and in the games.

you could always just put in a bot. as long as the bot can handle itself and not completely incompetent

In Halo 2 for PC, if you were in a match with an unfair advantage, then you could switch to that team, servers that a automatically run boot the player if it is deemed unfair, CoD 4 for PC would reballance the teams if there was an unfair numbers advantage or if lots of people switched to the winning team.

Why can't console games do that

I just wish they made it more on individual skill for ranking, depending on your team isn't an accurate representation of your skill but on people who play with you.
