Okay, I don't really follow the Halo storyline very well, but from what I know, the Spartan II's were like some suicide misiion guys. Wouldn't it be cool to play as them?

I'm da BOSS.

You play as a Spartan II in the other Halo games (obviously not ODST).

The Spartan III's were in Ghosts of Onyx. They were essentially Spartans made on the cheap.

A Spartan III game would rely on squad tactics alot since the S-III had much weaker armor and they're only at their full potential in a squad.

  • 09.30.2009 12:19 PM PDT

why? they where a failure compared to the SPARTAN IIs

Betatesters are disposable.

No. According to the books, Spartan-IIIs are designed as an one-way-weapon for large covenant targets.

If you want some new Spartan it should be Spartan IV. Spartan III were a failure.

yep i dont like the sound of that one-way suicide SPARTANS that suck to much to get out in one peace

Nihilism (from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical position that argues that existence is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value.

Put simply in the words of Nietzsche as "the will to nothingness".

I would like a small DLC mini campaign for Halo Reach, where you play as Spartan-III-'s. You'd have no shields, and a health system similar to ODST, but you can run faster and you're stronger, and you have a weak permanent camouflage

It wouldn't have to be one of the missions where all the Spartans die, as Alpha company had fought in nine successful battles before operation Prometheus.

Why would they be stronger?

Spartan III's were slower, weaker, had less shielding, and were overall worse than Spartan II's.

The ONLY advantages they had were:

1. Numbers
2. Camo (Only on the Mark II SPI suits.)

I hide my Gamertag because I don't want to play with you :).

"With great mustache, comes great responsibility"

It would be interesting just to play in their SPI Armor, already having camoflage all the time as you play.

Ok Spartan IIIs had all the same augments as the Spartan IIs.

All Spartan IIs were taken and trained at a very early age 6.
And chosen for their genetic and mental superiority.

Spartan IIIs were not so carefully chosen or received the same training. True they were trained by a Spartan II but not much else is known about their training to my knowledge anyway.

They didn't receive MJOLNIR Armor because it was expensive.
And all the Spartan IIIs were to do nothing but suicide missions anyways and the UNSC were not going to throw money away on armor they were never to see again.

Anyways a game about Spartan IIIs would be sweet I'd play it.

Because Muslims surgically implant organic bombs in their testicles, which in turn will be injected into women during sex, which will grow into BABY BOMBS!

Except they were drugs rather then a high risk operation. It's hard to believe that they had the same augments because the Spartan IIIs are so much crappier than Spartan IIs.

Love is a sensation, caused by temptation, to feel penetration, a guy sticks his location, in a girls destination,
to increase the population, for the next generation, did you get the explaination, or should i give you a demonstration?

If i remember correctly they had better drugs, the main one i remember from the book is one which makes the Spartan-III's impervious to shock which the Spartan-II's didn't have. They were also put through puberty early and are younger at their graduation (the Gamma Group anyway) Spartan-III's were 12 - Spartan-II's were 14.

Therefore Spartan-III's are only worse in the fact that they didn't have shields but they had a camo (as good as Elite camo) which could be turned on and off to complement that.

I was referring to ODSTs, actually, and the Mark I SPI suits had photo-reactive plating.

And why do people here consider Spartan -III-'s failures? They were better than ODST's in all ways. In contrast to popular belief, Alpha company successfully won 9 battles before operation prometheus, their mission are more dangerous and suicidal than even the Spartan -II-'s. The Spartan III's deserve some acknowledgement.

Alright, as far as a game goes, Reach is the last forseeable Halo game by Bungie. Ever. That doesn't mean it's the last, as the IP stays with Microsoft, or even the last by Bungie, but there are no plans.

That said, SIIIs were made with newer tech, and were at the very least nearly as good as a fully equiped SII. Ideally, Reach will allow, in the main campaign, many varied playable Spartans with different abilities; so if these different styles pass on to multiplayer, Spartan IIIs, Brutes, and Elites, will have no reason to be left out.
