Subject: Take a delve with me into Bungie's history.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

I am not sure how many will actually know this, so I thought I would give all of you some insight into Bungie's History.

As most of you in this particular forum know by now, there is a new Emblem in ODST called Tycho. But do you know the origins of this logo?

I give you Exhibit A, this was Tycho's name as it appears in one of the Terminals in Marathon Durandal. The "Graffiti" look reflects his Rampancy.

Tycho was the name of an AI character from the Marathon series. He is one of 3 AIs on the U.E.S.C. ship Marathon, along with Leela and Durandal.

I now give you Exhibit B, This particular Marathon emblem directly relates to Durandal, the AI who helps you throughout the majority of Marathon 2: Durandal.

During Marathon 1, he has no direct contact with the player, and it isn't until Marathon 2: Durandal, where you finally come to speak face to face with Durandal and Tycho. When you finally do meet Tycho, you will find he has begun to infect, and destroy Durandal.

Here it comes, Exhibit C, this is Durandal in his weakened state. Though able to communicate with you, he is extremely glitchy.

Tycho becomes a very serious threat throughout the story of Marathon 2, siding with the Phor and using them against you and Durandal. He even possesses the ability to completely override Durandal and speak with you personally.

Exhibit D, during direct communication with Tycho you will see this appear, the red corrupt look also reflects his Rampancy.

Tycho is by far one of the most interesting AIs you come across throughout the Marathon series. In my experience I found he had the most personality of all of them... A Treky could say he was like Data around the beginning of Generations, after learning about Laughter and Humor.

To close off, I leave you with the closest image I could find to Tycho's new Emblem in Halo 3 ODST.

I will call it Exhibit E.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit of insight into Bungie's history, now that you know where that Emblem came from, you might consider using it yourselves, who knows? I think I will stick with my swirly Halo 3 emblem though. Have a good night/day/morning or whatever.

Now, that is awesome is it not? Do you think we will find more awesome throwbacks to Marathon in Reach? New Emblems, Player Models, Characters. Who knows?

Note the final Paragraph, the one that says something about "Do you think awesome throwbacks from Marathon will be in Reach?"

Call me an ignorant fanboy. But I've been nurturing this forum with valuable information on Halo Canon and the Halo Universe itself since it was in diapers.

Your ignorance of the relation of this thread to the topic of the whole forum is incredible, you even QUOTED me mentioning the Reach thing in YOUR post.
