From time to time we will come across a pile of weapons. And of these weapons it consists of a AR, a Plasma Pistol, and a Sniper Rifle. You then shuffle through those three weapons until you finally end up with the Sniper Rifle. Now what I am suggesting is what I am calling, "Action Prioritizing". Now what this is is if you ever come across a situation described above, it will pick the most likely choice based on the importance of said weapons. So if you came across these three weapons all piled up, the game would choose your most likely choice, being the sniper rifle, and give you the option for that weapon opposed to a plasma pistol. And if you are silly enough not to want the Sniper Rifle it would then offer you the next best choice being the AR, etc.. Same goes for if you are trying to activate a bridge or something. Tell me what you think of this.

-EDIT-

Customizable list of actions that you could prioritize would fix the problem of complaints against personalizing the function. Example someone likes to get plasma pistol kills for some reason. They can customize it to put that at the top of their list.

-EDIT-

Before you post on this topic, let me intoduce a concept to some of you. Instead of completely bashing the idea like this guy:

No, that just makes things more complicated when you can just pick up weapons yourself.

, Post something like this this guy did:

Every weapon has its purposes, and a Sniper Rifle could also be a silly choice in certain situations. The concept is a bit silly. If anything, I'd say introduce multiple button combinations to provide simultaneously available options (say, upwards of three) if there happened to be a pile of weapons.

However, it isn't that hard to position yourself properly to pick up the one you want, and if it is, you're basically doing the same thing that Action Prioritizing would do, by dropping it away, and picking up another.

It sounds to me like you simply want the most "powerful" weapon to be picked up first regardless of what's in the pile, as well as the circumstance. That's silly.

,and until you can no longer find a solution to the problem with my idea, only then may you bash it with this unsolveable problem. Now continue with your post please...

customizable prioritization. In other words you choose importance of weapons.

Oh it's because I didn't want to bump but looks like I cant get a good idea recognized unless it has something completely unrealistic in it.

It sounds a bit ridiculous to me. Yea something like that would be awesome but it isn't that much of a hassle to pick up the weapon you want. Unless you're running low on time, and that hasn't happened ever in Halo, you can spend a few seconds or half a minute at most picking it up.

Confound these ponies, they drive me to insomnia.

Also, Applejack ftw.

I think that this could be fixed by having three weapons at once.

ONE back slung weapon.

TWO hip weapons.

Anybody need a lucky driver?

Are u saying that since bungie keeps track of wat u kill most with that they should let u pick up ur favorite weapon faster and not have to pick up multiple weapons while getting shot at? Sounds like a good idea to me.

yeah i think this is a bad idea, it makes things alot more hard, you should just pick up any weapon you want. not a most-important weapon thjat u might not want to use depending on the situation

  • 10.01.2009 3:33 PM PDT

Why not it's overridden by putting your targeting reticule over the weapon you want, that way if you're running away from fire you could easily pick up the best weapon but if you want a certain one just point at it.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

the feature kind of already exists... It will prioritize Objectives (Flags, Oddballs, Bombs) over weapons, and Vehicles over everything.

We are mostly a Halo 3: ODST group for help with achievements and stuff, but we also will play a lot of Halo 3 matchmaking.

I think this is a pretty good idea. Although I don't see Bungie going through the work to set something like that up for a situation that is hardly ran into. (Dosn't happen to me very often. Don't know about for other people though)

It is my latest cultural research project! By randomly saying LOLWIN to semi-funny replies on the Halo 3 forum, I hypothesize that a temperary self-esteem boost will be present.

And once they read this, they will be a little worse off than before.

That would be completely functional if they took a Rocket Launcher, Sniper Rifle, and Spartan Laser :P.

I do think that you should be able to (sheath?) dual wields though.

I agree with the OP though.

u sir obviously have complicated and simple mixed up.
more = complex less = simple.

u are implying on more options therefore it is more complex
u have a brain try using it for once.

also i dont find it realistic to grab a weapon in the middle of combat try killing everyone then have one of ure teamate cover you... instead of holding down the fowards button seriosly people u dont have to hold it down u can do other things like... stand still to defend or fall back.

Uhm... Isn't that exactly what he just said? Two hip weapons, meaning two dual wields? If you didn't notice the only weapons you carry on your legs are dual wields and the needler.

Personally, the whole customization list is a bit much, but the concept is great.

Weapons should take precedence over equipment, power weapons should take precedence over duals and BRs/ARs.

Every night at the stroke of twelve, McHenry would lurch from his grave, REEKING OF ASS AND DEATH

I think this is a great idea for inexperienced players. but only as an option... and it would have to be really goddamn good, like mind-readingly good. otherwise it would frustrate people with the random switching of weapons.
