"They let me pick... did I ever tell you that? Choose whichever Spartan I wanted. You know me. I did my research. Watched as you became the soldier we needed you to be. Like the others you were strong and swift and brave, a natural leader. But you had something they didn't. Something no one saw but me. Can you guess? Luck."
—Cortana to John-117

As an enemy? Every once and a while.
Multiplayer? No, Spartans and Elites are good enough.

Have a few brutes in the campaign. Maybe have them be the Halo 2 era "damage sponge" as well as having Halo 3 era Power armour and and animations, thus making them VERY hard to kill while looking interesting at the same time. Definitely no brutes in multiplayer though.

Nihilism (from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical position that argues that existence is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value.

Put simply in the words of Nietzsche as "the will to nothingness".

It would be interesting to see how elites and brute work together, not well I assume.

i would love to see a elite try to order a cheiftan around but the brute just turns to the elite and sends him 2 metres away and then a battle erupts between the brutes and the other elites.

Beware the Llama...

Brutes would not make any sense in the story line. Just as you see no Elites in Halo 3: ODST because of the Brute takeover there should be no Brutes in Halo: Reach as the takeover has not occured and as this game takes place before Halo Combat Evolved where there are no Brutes to be seen there should be no brutes in Reach. Bungie shouldn't go back and make a mockery of their own timeline by placing them into a game where they simply make no sense as far as the story thus far has unfolded.

The book was Halo: The Fall of Reach. BIG difference. Saying TFoR is the Halo REACH book is like saying Halo: Ghosts of Onyx was the Halo 2 book. WRONG on both accounts.

I hope Brutes are in this game as well as Elites.

Anybody who says something stupid like "hay look at halo 1 ce they r not there they r not anywhere intill halo 2 start as u can see bcuz that wen we 1st see them! so ya bungie no brutus !!!" why don't you get a clue, please.

We didn't see any Brutes in Halo 1 because the Arbiter didn't have any in his fleet. Another fleet(s) remained at Reach when he left (if you knew anything about the story) to conquer the world. There can be Brutes in this fleet if Bungie wants there to be.

Dont get too wrapped up in the Internet. It's already forgotten about you.

I'm so very tired of Brutes.
Elites are so missed.

Hey Bungie.

You got some "Planet of the Apes" in my Halo.

Get it out.

Now.

Signatures are for squares.

Elites.

Nothing but Elites. I've been fighting brutes for 2 1/2 games straight now, I'm sick of them.

Haha yeah, like the three way fights in Halo:CE. Awesome.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Dont know, but I bet they can throw them in once in a while.

That probably wont happen. Before the Schism the Brutes were smart enough to keep their hands to themselves around the Elites.

I'd like to fight Elites but if there are any Brutes they should be like they were in Halo 2, to keep fighting as interesting as elites.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

Indeed, we've seen the two types of enemy interacting between themselves and seeing as it is possible for them to co-exist on Reach i would like them to be included.

It would be interesting to see them bicker but ultimately get along.

The game could only be better with more enemies in it. I could certainly imagine "Brute Pack" sequences, similar to the way the Hunter sequences appear every once in a while.

Elites should be a main enemy, along with grunts and jackals. Brute Packs should be Hunter-like mini-boss encounters where you take on a bunch of strong enemies at once.
