Well, I play with keyboard/mouse at the local XBox LAN's. It's very hard for someone like me, at least, who plays 90% of games on pc, to cross over and use a controller. It's like going back to square one - I feel old and stupid trying to relearn it.
Dark side? Pfff, I bought a used box for Halo and a few games a while ago, picked up Halo 2 - it was great fun, but I've moved on to other games now. I think the cheating and just the general atmosphere was bad. It seemed like 2 in 3 people were d-bags, and it was worse because everyone has mics...don't know how it is now, but most of my good buddies still play. Maybe I'll get back into in light of all the new maps.
Consoles are great if you want to play games and not have to pour money into a pc to upgrade. I enjoy having the console because everyone else around here is console-crazed, so in order to get a decent number of people in a LAN it has to be on XBox. And for the most part, you get right into the action - no need to configure any network settings or trouble-shoot the server.
I also am a bit of a pc modding/building/overclocking nut, so I like having a pc or two to work with. I usually get something at least every few months, if just a few LED's or some fresh water cooling additive.
There is no dark side to console gaming. You know for a fact you want have any errors or have to tourbleshoot anything when you get a new game, and you can set up a LAN Party in 5 minutes. That's really where the consoles have the dge over the pc - simplicity.
