Subject: The truth about the Sword in ODST

If you wait around for people to hand you things, there's a chance you may get it... but you won't enjoy the thrill of finding it or being part of a group who worked for it.

I sincerely hope people don't pull the code apart and reveal any hidden easter eggs. I'd rather find it legitimately six months from now than have it handed to me tomorrow through cheating.

In this, I suppose, I am in the vast minority.

I just hope there won't be stuff such as jumping through the rings. Seriously, who would find the Skull without any tutorial or cheating?

doubt its important but worth a look anyway

From Left to right, top to bottem:

Plasma Rifle?

Fuel Rod Cannon

Caribine

Phantom Main Gun?

Plasma Pistol

Plasma Tureet

Spiker

Brute Shot

Perhaps human drawings produced by a rebel force in the city trying to fight back?

Those look more like Covenant Air ships and carriers and what not.

I'll give you that one some of them, but the carbine is almost EXACT, and the brute shot is only missing the blade. Based on the accuracy on the carbine alone I have to go with weapons.

You're right, Gazas, it would have taken much longer to find the IWHBYD skull and unlock the Hayabusa armor had someone not picked the code apart. Can you imagine how completely awesome it would have been to find that a year later by yourself? To run around in matchmaking donning your exclusive helmet like a celebrity?

That's what Bungie intended.

Potentially, we have a second chance at just that. I remember having the conversation with Nox (from SGP) when I first found the Super DiGlyph... whether to keep it under my hat so I could potentially be that guy running around multiplayer with an exclusive helmet or something. In the end, I obviously decided to publish my article on the web and share it with the community. My rationale was twofold: a) if I don't release the info, the community may get robbed of the thrill of the hunt like we were back when Halo 3 was released. And b) I probably won't have the time to figure it all out on my own.

This is why I have been hell-bent to whip people into shape to start looking at these things. I want to beat the modders/hackers before they spoil our surprise. That's why I wrote the article. That's why I made a specialized forum. And a gallery. And maps to banners. And a youtube video, etc, etc.

As it turned out, I'd still be making maps to banners today if it wasn't for this thread and perhaps its cross-pollination with the SGP. Instead I'm unlocking doors I was banging my head against for days. I'm totally stoked that it turned out this way! We have a chance to beat the party-poopers and naysayers!

Let's do this thing, people. While we still can.

Yes, D06 is where Buck's first mission begins as he travels up to Tayari Plaza in D05.

ZaggRukk already explained what he found in there previously in this thread (page 16.) It's essentially an empty room. Not too exciting on its own... it's how we got in there that's exciting, along with the expectation that there will be more to find. I'm already working on a similar locked door up in District 03 (southeast corner for those wishing to help out.)

As someone, somewhere around here posited- it seems odd that "henges" show up on the VISR map but don't appear in-game. I'd like to think that they will appear in these areas once we make more progress, but expectations often make us look in the wrong direction.

For now, touching a glyph and then running to a locked dark-gray security door seems like the best possible chance of making the next step.

After reading your very descriptive article, I can see how the numbers can be a possible clue.

I see from your last post on this forum that you are now exploring another locked door in District 03. So here's two thoughts,

1st - How many locked doors are there, what Districts are they in & how many are in each of these Districts?

2nd - Depending on the answer to the 1st question, do they add up to anything significant & if so, do opening these doors in any particular sequence or just opening all of them possibly unlock or open something else?

Interesting. I've been wondering what was up with the "stonehedge" areas of the city. I will be sure to keep an eye on this forum.

they look like a combination of covie weapons, like they were laid over each other.
second from the bottom on the left has a plasma pistol on the end, the ones to its right and below have plasma rifles
the one above has a carbine butt
the others look familiar as well
i'd say weapons, what for? who knows.........yet
someone said halo:reach
or new covie weapons?

If you watch the legendary ending, the control panel the profet is using has symbols on it, if there is a way of replicating that same pattern in the game, who knows what might happen but i bet you it will be good. Also, he has engineers behind him and I bet that link between the profet, the engineers and the symbols link downwards, the enginneers helps the pofit be telling hi how to activate the ark ad those not with the profet are drawing them on walls leading to something?

Just thought i'd mention it.

A mythic member but I speak my mind to much.

stopped reading about halfway. a lot or random guesses that mean nothing.

My guess: A designer was told to produce a full medal chest before the game and sword were decided upon completely. They were uploaded into the database in preparation for the site update. When the sword was removed, or not added at all, they didn't check to remove it from the medal system. But doesnt really matter since it doesnt help or hurt the system.

Conclusion: There is no Sword in ODST. And there is a medal in the database.

Until I see a picture, there is no Sword.

perhaps you should have read PAST halfway, because frankly, we aren't just looking for a sword

we had our theories about a sword, but the fact theres an empty room which can only be triggered by touching a glyph with a few graphical glitches in it means that WE WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO GET IN THERE BY NORMALY

ok, I read it. Still a whole lot of nothing.

Even more random assertions.

And the SI responds "Slow down. Final notice: Bill past due." Could this be a clue? Does anyone know why the Si would say that?

He is saying that because the Brutes are there, and they shouldnt be. What happens after a Final notice and the bill isnt paid. You get Evicted. Its a nice way of saying we are going to Evict you from life, we are going to kill you. Thats not a clue, its just how the SI says things with its limited database. Like Bumble Bee from Transformers only able to talk with the radio signals it has available.

next they will find a cloud that looks like a sword, and make theories about swords falling from the clouds. if you shoot the right starts in a certain order that when you add it up , and find the square root, equals 7

The beeps went: 4-3-3 then a pause, 6-3-3 then a pause, 6-3-3 and it repeated 6-3-3 for as long as i listened.

Morse code perhaps?

Think someone already tried to figure it out and got nothing.

  • 10.04.2009 9:06 AM PDT

There are beeps from 1-6, there are 1-6 stones in the Stonehenge.
Coincidence?

  • 10.04.2009 9:13 AM PDT

i got into cold gliders secret room!

what i found

1. the music changes when you get on the concrete in the middle

2. there are 3 doors

3. one of thems open

4. there are 3 window things above 2 doors and 1 above the other 3+3+1=7 oh bungie i love yah

5. a window thing with a light in it that looks like i can go into but i cant

6. gonna keep exploring it check out that open door got hallways in it.

ill try for pics soon

  • 10.04.2009 9:13 AM PDT

I'm not trying to squash anything but thats too coincidental.I'm gonna be a realist for all of you to keep you grounded.

  • 10.04.2009 9:14 AM PDT

after brisk searching i have found out 1 thing

the room is ENTIRELY unremarkable

seriously not a damn things amazing about it

no glyphs in it

the open door was just a nother way to leave it

the only perpose i can think of is a good hiding place for hide and seek

maybe bungie got bored and said "lets see how long it takes the players to find this"

i do not know

ill add pics though maybe some1 else can decode this

Sure they dont hurt me now. but these illogical lines of thinking will eventually mature into who knows what.

then in a few months time I will be debating you on youtube about stupid beliefs in Gods, Evil Governments, and a whole range of retarded subjects. ha, plus it seems you are all delusional, in this pursuit. but if you want to waste your time and waste mine later, go for it.

(this post may contain irrational thought process, so ignore and shut up.) <-- thats how you end it.

"When written in Chinese, the word 'crisis' is
composed of two characters--one represents danger,
and the other represents opportunity."

I found another door this one leads to the blacked out part district 0. its near the left entrance of distract 0. If someone can unlock this door there will surely be a lot too discover.
