Maybe a puzzle is connected with the engineers then

I think the "Y" shaped symbols have been drawn by the engineers as a way of mourning the Elites. I think they liked the elites as they were probably treated much better and the brutes do bad things to them =(

That's an interesting idea, I never thought about that.

Good post!
Here`s what I think:
I think that reason that the "empty blocks" in weapon spree section are there not grayed out, because it would not look normal.
At the bottom it`s normal because thats where stuff usually ends..at the bottom.

and please dont bring up Halo 3 medal chest here,it is much older and to be honest,it does look much messy and uncategorized(sp?)

IMHO you are just overthinking things, now shall we stop finding this sword,or should we try find it like people did with Golden Warthog?
You are WRONG. The H3 medal chest was redone to have the same styling as the ODST medal chest. It is neither older nor more "messy."

Unless they are an unconscious error on the part of Bungie, these empty medal slots have a purpose. You guys underestimate Bungie...

Does anyone have the sticky spree medal? because I've tried to get it with no luck

Well, the gifs and medal chest would mostly be made up by the web crew and artists not as involved in designing the gameplay and probably prepared it not knowing if there would be a sword or not. Or it hit the cutting room floor later.

Or it's even possible that the code and files are based upon the Halo 3 service record page and weren't entirely cleaned out. Having done a fair bit of web development myself, I think that's a fairly likely scenario.
I fiddled around and decompiled the silverlight application, trust me, there is some weird -blam!- in that program it's not even funny.

There's two mysterious skulls, some weird death types, etc.

Maybe there is a sword in odst. its probably hidden by some ridiculus puzze like the jumping through the halo rings in halo 3 to get the IWHBYD skull

Nothin compared to H2 mate.;)

But it would be pretty cool to have a sword in this game.......

i think only time will tell these secrets. another reason to keep playing the game.

Maybe you have to search the levels with different difficulties and different skulls on, like with the rockets and mongooses with Deja Vu. If there are any places that play music like in Deja Vu, you should check there with those settings on.

EDIT: It might also be in one of the SI safehouses...

Major props to my hommie Sheeef. He made Recon possible for me. Long time recovering emails and passwords. And it was his. lol.

HOLD BALLZ! This is an AWESOME thread. Very nice! Once i get my new xbox (it FINALLY died on me::SADFACE:: ) I will be getting to figure this out as well.

Again, well done!

I like Six's death, the way the scene was made makes it look like Six is in a nightmare, powerless and tired to stop the unending waves of elites before she can't carry on anymore. Like trying to wriggle free from a spiderweb you just can't do it and end up tiring yourself in panic.

And the SI responds "Slow down. Final notice: Bill past due." Could this be a clue? Does anyone know why the Si would say that?

Vergil says to Sadie "Slow down. Children at play" when she says she's going to enlist in the army so Slow Down means "Wait".

Final notice: Bill past due might mean "You've gone past it".

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Agreed. if theres a puzzle its probably assoosiated with the "stonehenge" areas

Gotta be. The strange Y symbols that have the Super associated with them tend to only pop up around mysterious objects or dead elites.

There has to be something to them. I don't know what, but there has to be something. While exploring the city for audio logs, the symbols also appeared around campaign missions, but they were of a different variety. The ones that included the Super surrounded dead elites or other mysterious occurrences, while the ones that contained strange symbols permeated around campaign missions.

I'm usually no good at viral puzzles, but I want to see where this one goes. Saved thread.
More than likely the strange symbols near dead Elites is in a sense a hint at the Engineers mistreatment by the Brutes.

The Engineers were never bothered by the Elites in the known fiction. The Elites would allow engineers to go about their business unless if their skills were needed elsewhere. The Brutes killed the remaining Elites in New Mombasa and started planting Bombs in Engineers.

Take a look at this screenshot.

The superintendent logo has a sad face, the symbol bellow him is a Y and right bellow that pillar is a dead Elite. It seems to me that the Engineers do not like the Brutes very much.

While transitioning from one buliding to another, we hear Buck say something like "What the hell happened here?" And the SI responds "Slow down. Final notice: Bill past due." Could this be a clue? Does anyone know why the Si would say that?

"Slow Down" Is fairly straight forward. "Final Notice: Bill Past Due" could mean multiple things. The first part could mean that you don't get the opportunity again, or could just be the begging part of the SI's phrase that VIRGIL uses to communicate.

The final part of the phrase, "Bill Past Due" seems to indicate that either something is owed before the events can occur, or that something inside the buildings is being sealed off, or that you've simply gone past something or the wrong way.

As for Bungie's web design, it's flawless, anything that is there is meant to be there. They are not cutting corners or trying to conserve on time or resources, they have the layout like that for a reason. granted, it may not be the reason you are searching for, but it's a good reason nonetheless.

Finally, thread saved, let's try and keep all discussion related to hidden energy swords in this thread, we don't want the forum flooded with endless topics. If "The Secret of Sandtrap" was in one thread I'm sure we can KEEP IT CLEAN, being as this makes a lot more sense and has technical evidence to support it.

Were it so easy.

It is the Halo 3 engine so the sword is on the disc but it's not set to spawn anywhere.

Too bad all your theories are wrong. Here I'll give you the correct one:

There's a sword spree medal in ODST because it's an unpolished expansion to Halo 3, built on the same engine with all the same data only repainted.

Man that was hard to think of huh? I doubt Bungie cared enough to go through and remove every little tidbit of data that would be inaccessible in ODST.

I agree.

And as for the medal you can find by changing the HTML. Well they probably took all the Halo 3 spree medals, and automatically modified them (changing colour balances and such) using batch processing. They then uploaded them all, including the sword spree. Doesn't mean that they intended to use it.

If you ever go through someone's code in an open-source program, chances are you'll find a lot of unused stuff. Usually debugging stuff, but not always. Just cause someone wrote a function thinking they might use it, doesn't mean that they called it in there program. Same thign applies here. Just cause they uploaded a file, doesn't mean they need to use it.
