It's not "denied" or "granted" or "restricted"
I can't tell what it says though.
I should go get a screenshot of it.

Man it seems we are just running around in circles. Without a set pattern or more information on how this all is connected we are just rambling aimlessly. It just seems to me that we have gotten really lucky getting this far and we need to incorporate every piece of the puzzle we've uncovered up until this point if we are going to get anywhere with it.

Go Yankees

Nice find on the new room...tested and confirmed.

I tried testing it out on co-op (local) to determine if it was actually "touching" the glyph (or something else) that triggered the door to open. I found out that the glyphs (and the sector numbers, apparently) aren't present when you play with two people. Is this old news? It was kinda disappointing.

  • 10.04.2009 1:02 PM PDT

well... i've never done anything like this before, but i'm really enjoying the look this, so i'd like to join in too.

this might sound a bit simple or something, but since people are seeing the SI and are thinking it has something to do with engineers... has anyone done a good search of the SI core in the data hive level... i don't know if its too small to search but theres a slight chance

i s'pose

After reading this, which is very insightful by the way; my friend suggested this, "well there are 6 glyphs. maybe there is a sequence in which you have to shoot, hit or jump over the pods. can you get close to do that to all of them?
or a sequence that your supose to view the flash backs"

I don't know it sounded good so gimme your thoughts.

Or maybe you need to find the seventh. 6 is one below seven, it seems strange for bungie to stop there when they could easily add another...

Guess since I've read through all 21 pages and have been doing some investigating myself, I'll add my 2 cents.

So after confirming the Glyphs & unlockable door I marked on my map possible locations, other stonehenges and (arrow) rooms. If you zoom in on the map, the room has 4 objects resembling arrows pointed towards each other.

So now comes my findings...

The Glyphs in District 6 that unlock the Door in District 8.
The door in District 8 leads to an "arrow" room. You do not need to look at any specific Glyph in district 6 for the door to unlock, you just need to "see" that the Glyphs are active, and the door is open.

However, if the Glyphs are not there (as in they are randomly deactivated) the door in District 8 is closed.

Stonehenge Doors
For me, the stonehenge doors in District 4 and District 6 seems to be perma-unlocked, dont know how or why theyre unlocked but they are.

However, the stonehenge door in District 5 is still locked and will not open.

So I've come to a few conclusions. First being that the Glyphs themselves do not need any special interaction, other then that they are active in a particular area and you've seen that they are to have its corresponding door unlocked.

Second, it could be quite possible that entering and exiting the districts in a specific order trigger the Glyph system.

Third, Glyphs themselves are on either a random or timed activation system. Only certain Glyphs are active at a certain time and others are not.

Still looking into the possibility that a Glyph/Door combination will allow entry into one of the Restricted Districts.

Hope this helps!

Cheers.

I'm the Master chief

We need to get a map showing where all the sectors are at..
Also we need to figure out a pattern, here is mine theory of a pattern: A glyph in sector 6 opened a door in sector 8.
6+8=14
14/2=7.
That could be a pattern. For example. A glyph in sector 2 could open a door in sector 5:
2+5=7

@ MLG Pope: It does look like denied. There are six letters in it (the same as denied) and the panel is red. If this games is ANYTHING like the others, red always means inaccessible.

@ This new find:
I'd love to believe this, and it does indicate something, but for the time being it may just be a repeatable glitch rather than an Easter egg. Unless/until other doors can be opened by Glyphs, then this evidence is not conclusive, but more indicative. The only problem will be finding out which glyphs open which doors, especially if you went into district 6 to open district 8. For the time being, it can be perceived by skeptics as a simple glitch where the map didn't load properly. Someone should try and do the same backtrack without interacting with the glyphs to see if it is just a dodgy load. Although being lazy isn't bungie's usual MO, there will be a few random glitches around, especially in an open map. Since that is the area where you play as buck, has anyone noticed that the Optican station that is there during the flashback is gone now? Surely they can't just disappear? What we need to do, to work as a community, and to become more focused, we need to make a map of all the glyph locations and the locations of other significant items. That way, we can determine links more quickly, rather than wandering aimlessly repeating the same mistakes as before. Only thing is, is the location of the glyphs different each time you play? Or is it the same? Once we can prove that the glyphs can be used to unlock security doors, we can find the links between the glyphs and which doors are opened by them.

@Scarwcrow

If you goto District 5, walk around, then goto District 8 and to the door, it is locked.

You need to then head into District 6, see the Glyphs are activated, then return to District 8 and the door will be open.

Just tried it twice. At first I thought it meant the doors were unlocked by walking around in a specific order, but when the Glyphs in District 6 deactivated, the District 8 door was closed as well.

So its in all probability that the Glyphs unlock specific Security doors in adjacent Sectors.

See my post, up a ways on the page. :)

So we need to find out which district glyphs open which other districts and find an order in which we can open all districts at once?

Just found something interesting. There is a symbol on the wall opposite the door that opens with the glyphs, but this symbol only appears when you use the glyphs to open the door. I will post pics soon.
