I'll do a sweep of Mombasa streets to kill some time and see what I can find.

Quick idea: Some items only show up if you have a certain number of players on a certain difficulty with certain skulls on (the Mongooses on Coastal Highway for example)

I think the "Y" shaped symbols have been drawn by the engineers as a way of mourning the Elites. I think they liked the elites as they were probably treated much better and the brutes do bad things to them =(
No i've found these signs all over the city but only next to dead covenants so i think they're drawn by other covenants rather than the engineers since these are enslaved by the covenant and i also dont think the elites would have more gentle than the brutes

Where there is smoke, there is fire. Or a smoke machine.

Brutes go by force and they're stupid, elites need a reason and have brains. So elites would be more gentle because there was no actual reason for the elites wanting to enslave them, they're following the profit. The brutes want to enslave them for glory.

The glyphs might be some kind of puzzle or something but I really don't think it's a sword.

this forum went from well motivated super glyph finders to being

1/4 people who care

1/4 people who restate thing that were posted forever ago

1/4 people who post just to say how good the forum is

1/8 being skeptics who say door was loading glitch

and 1/8 being people who dont read OP and just say there isnt a sword

Come on people lets get organized

ill make a super summarry post that summarizes everything about the glyphs as detailed as i can get

than maybe ill tackle the glyph & secret room location map people have been wanted

I just REALLY want something cool to be found as an easter egg

oh yeah and report everyone who dosen't bother to read OP and says sword dosent exist or just states the obvious thing thats been posted earlier

I KNOW ITS 42 PAGES PEOPLE

IF I CAN READ IT SO CAN YOU

Veritas Aequitas

Well we do know that there's a Y and then three symbols around it, one in each "alcove" of the Y. So I have a couple questions before my speculation:

1) Has anyone figured out the meaning to these symbols? If so, they could be followed.

2) Has anyone actually tried following the Y's in any particular direction from one to the next to see if they lead you anywhere?

3) We know that the Y's can only be seen after hitting "x" but can they be seen during any of the missions? If so I would doubt they lead anywhere....

So after those questions are answered I'll continue speculating and then maybe start joining the hunt but until then I dont wanna waste my time or anyone elses. (Ironic that I posted that last sentence on a Halo message board X_X)

If you compare the glyphs in ODST, to Viking/Nordic runes you see a similarity. Then again the sword for ODST might be like the assassin skull in Halo 3.

1. noone cares about the meaning ... duh its about he hidden room easter egg speculation

has anybody gone into theater after unlocking the door and watching the door while your characheter unlocks it?

it might debunk the loading glitch idea or the non loading glitch idea

2. NNNNNOOOPE at least not that i know of
let me reiterate its ALL about the secret room and the glyphs chance that thay may have to do with easter eggs

3. i dont need visr mode to see them

i think... now that you mention it i dont think ive turned visr mode off since i bought the game...

and no i dont think they appear in missons

and we would love if you joined the glyph finding hunt

  • 10.07.2009 6:47 PM PDT

yeah most likely its an assassin skull all over again

but i doubt bungie would go so far as to iterate ancient nording runes

  • 10.07.2009 6:49 PM PDT

Wouldn't put anything past them though

  • 10.07.2009 6:51 PM PDT

If there is a secret room to open or the glyphs mean something, it will probably be more far fetched than jumping through different rings in a sequence. I mean Easter eggs do have a history with halo games.

  • 10.07.2009 6:53 PM PDT

hmm the glyphs look like y's

the y's appear on asklon signs in houses

asklon ends just like babylon the biblical city

7 letters in babylon

b=2
a=1
y=25
l=12
o=15
n=14
2+1+2+25+12+15+14=
2+1=3+2=5+25=30+12=42+15=57+14=71=7x1=7

woohoo rediculously complicated and probably coincidental new 7 reference!!!!

I said this earlier and no one saw it. It was stated in the Xbox magazine that the 'glyphs' you guys are going crazy about represent forerunner ships. They tell some knid of story. Dont believe me? Watch

theyd probably want to outdo all their previous easter eggs

which means itll be more complicated/hard as the scaarab gun/iwhbyd skull

dosent it confuse you that bungie wouldnt even bother hiding new skulls for this game

i know those are hidden but come on which was harder to find mythic skull or audio log 12?

yeah mythic skull

the audio logs actually seem to reflect the terminals in halo 3

i found this strange glyph could it do something and i noticed that these glyphes lead to the door on the left(locked) i clipped through the door but found nothing

this is in a area just like dare`s crash site(could the glyphs unlock new doors as 3 areas i checked later were accesible but they usually are locked)

The first glyph is the super trifecta (I think it's called) and it only shows up on the wall. It disappears and reappears and sometimes only has 2 SI faces, The trash can next to it changes too. So far no one knows what makes it change and is referred to as the "magic wall". It was a major topic in this thread towards the beginning.

doesn't mean they can't be used to hide easter eggs.
