A few theories and things I have noticed about the glyphs in ODST:
Some are simply a three pronged shape, I have seen similar shapes like this used in quantum physics string theory. It describes two intersecting strings conjoining see here (I know its wiki, but string theory is a very ambiguous science at the moment anyway)
Perhaps its suggesting alternate realities within ODST? This may have something to do with when you find a beacon and you jump from rookie to that particular reality, they represent the two realities colliding... Or perhaps even something else...
Also some of the Glyphs have pictures in each segment of them, the pictures to me look like possible map locations. There is a circle, then what could be a map layout in its middle, the trick might be to find those particular locations that resemble the pictures in map layout? Or perhaps at least in multi play coop mode, finding those seperate locations at the same time, perhaps this will unlock something, who knows? The glyphs are really only clear in VISR mode, this may suggest that perhaps what ever the secret may be (If at all) it will only really be found easily in VISR mode.
Another thing is they could be a map locations for the audiofiles if you havent noticed each audio file is divided into three parts or 'Circles' then the circles are divided into 'Arcs' (eg Circle 1 Arc 1 Circle 1 Arc 2 Circle 1 Arc 3 then onto Circle 2 Arc 1 etc...) This may be their only purpose, some have said that the glyphs change though I haven't noticed this, it maybe because their changing may reflect how many audiofiles you have unlocked? Im aware that the weapons cache's open up depending on how many audiofiles you find so the ones you see with the SI's face may indicate that this 'circle' is complete because you have found all three 'arc's'.
Thats about all Ive got at the moment, might mean nothing but food for thought all the same?
I posted this in page 38 so I thought I'd dig it up again for you as it may be relevant. Perhaps the glyphs have map locations on them between each triad of the intersecting string. They sure look like they may be map locations. It could mean that either two ODST's need to occupy the two bottom map locations of the triad and perhaps the third location will offer up its secret, or maybe three players must occupy all the locations which will unlock something? Maybe even a fourth is needed? These glyphs need to be 'photographed' very closely in theater mode, then they need to be photo copied and matched up against the New Mombassa street map. Possibly a pattern may emerge. Here is a map of New Mombassa. If I had the time I would do it myself. We may identify the sites at which these Glyphs reveal, but its what to do once we find them thats going to be the tricky part. I noticed that the 'map location' glyphs have a circle around them that have a broken section of the circle, perhaps this is the place where the ODST must occupy to 'complete the circle'(remember the IWHBYD skull on H3, you had to jump through rings?), once all ODST's are in position maybe the secret will be revealed. I noticed there is a room with two engineers and a gigantic circle glyph on one of the walls. I think its the one with the 'water fall wall' (Correct me if Im wrong). A theory I have is once each ODST is in place at their particular map referance point in the section where the circle is broken to complete it, this circle may give up its secret?
Perhaps even four players need to be standing in the various 'stone henge' rooms and dig sites at the same time? Its worth a try but ultimately if the Glyphs do incicate map locations + the location as to where the ODST must stand, we need to get them identified and then perhaps try my method, and by then hope we have worked the rest of the mystery out....
Just a few more thoughts for all the egg hunters out there.
Dis
interesting thought about the world lines and alternate realities.
there is a place in the streets where they are a lot of glyphs, but they change, seemingly randomly. it seems that reality is different each time we play the game (note that the game focuses on nonlinearity) also the numbers on the unsc barriers change. it is possible that we must complete certain tasks in each reality before another appears, the one in which the answer lies.
also, there has to be something in those darkened sectors. why put them in the game if there's nothing to be done/found there?
also note that these glyphs have 3 sections. there are 3 stonehenge rooms.possibly a different task has to be done in each of these rooms, shown by the glyphs.
