Alright watch my video and you will see some brutes struggling to hold down an engineer and activating the charge that makes them explode. I don't know if this is something unique or not but I haven't seen it before. Anyone want to check this out and comment on if that normally happens? I was on Mombasa Streets on Easy and I do have all audio logs. Maybe if you can take the one activating the charge out quick enough the engineer won't explode anymore...? Anyways if I uploaded the wrong video let me know too.
Engineer Video
EDIT: It doesn't start right at the part just watch for a bit.

Is it possible to stop the brutes from putting the bomb on the engineer? I know one time I ran into the group with a mongoose while they were in the process of doing so. I just never tried to stop them. I won't be able to play for a while so can somebody try it to see if it possible.

I'm not sure I will try later tonight to stop them from putting the bomb inside the engineer.

You may need four people so you can take them out quickly.

There is nothing wrong with Halo:Reach. We all just have our gripes about everything we don't like. Not liking something doesn't make it broken.

HAHAHAHAHA!

You guys JUST notice this? Cool. I'll explain more. I love this Easter-Egg.

You CAN interrupt them, although it has no effect other then saving the little dude.

The one planting the charge needs to take a hit with a spike grenade stick. It'll end him, the other two let go of the Engineer and you kill them.

Then, if you managed to do it quick enough, the Engineer flies in circles instead of exploding when you get close.

You can do it with two people brainlessly. I've done it alone.

This Easter egg does not effect any other bit of the game and those brutes respawn there sometimes, giving you multiple chances to see the easter egg at random in that Plaza.

That much being said though what happens if you just watch the engineer from afar after killing the brutes? Just floats there?

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost,
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Has anyone tried jumping on one of the engineers and seeing where they take you? I have never been able to get close enough but maybe with more people you could corner it.

Where Arz daz Stonehenges????? I just want to know before I search for a long time. I'm pretty smart and will probably help a lot on your searches

"Caboose, provide cover fire with that tank !"
"Okai !"
"And don't shoot me this time."
"Okay !"
-Blam-
"Son of a -blam!- !"
"Wait, what was the first part again ?"

To the poster above (or the one who said he was smart) gratz on horrible spelling and proving that you are smart. I actually think the first hypothesis is close to correct, I mean turning elites themsleves into enemies won't be that hard (Kill a few elites in halo 3 and see how they react) and elites fight brutes pretty well if u manage to flee them when they are hunting for your head. I think the hardest thing about putting the elites into the game is plot development and the game itself. Imagine programing battles with elites in the begining and then battles with brutes elites and humans then finnish up with brutes. The intended game time of the campian is ment to be equal to an expansion pack. There was just not enough time in both the game and irl to include elites into the game. There would be a lot of conflicts in the storyline if the elites were the baddies. Simply put, Bungie did not want to waste the time and effort to makethings more complicated for themselves. BTW this is sent from my iTouch so I willl have misakes on my grammmer in this post due to the immense lag when i type with this device

I havn't seen this picture until reading the last couple pages. This gave me goosebumps. I definately think that there is something out there, and agree that this might be another IWHBYD deal. Keep this thread alive!

I have a feeling that anything that is unlocked in the campaign will be applicable only to Fire Fight, rather than the campaign itself. All the other unlockables are for Fire Fight and not campaign. So while Elites are not in the campaign, other than ragdoll form (it wouldn't be that difficult to drop them in since it's just different animations over the same base AI, it just doesn't fit the plot), I believe their very presence hints that we'll be able to fight them in Fire Fight (since Fire Fight needs no plot), and they'll bring their swords with them... now we only need to figure out how to "jump through the right hoops."

Subject: The truth about the Sword in ODST

"Dude, what are you doing right now?"
"Uhh... Heh, my mom."
"Dude... What?"

"Bill past due" could be a clue as to the Brute's scuffle with the Elites.

Bill > Change of guard.

past due > I guess he overheard the Brute's talking about it "Happening sooner"?

Overthinking/10. The other dude had it before, Bill past due is like saying "evict the brutes" evict = kill.

Derp.

i did it on Heroic on my own, had I known it was a big deal I would of saved the video.

At most, the Engineer just flys out of the area, however I do not have all audio logs.

I tried to kill it...but...meh...too fast.

hey i didn't chec all the pages but has someone mentioned, how in Halo: First Strike, a spartan gets his blood on those engineer symbols and a secret door opens up?

  • 10.16.2009 10:19 AM PDT

You know how the Engineers float way up into the air before they explode? Maybe if you could get one of them close to the ground before it does that, jump on its back, ride it up and jump off onto the city roofs. I really do think that something could be up there.

sorry, but I think I might have put zs at the end of these words on purpose. I mean, z is not in the center of the keyboard. So anyway, just saying you're on an I touch doesn't mean that your immune so stop safeguarding yourself. Lastly, so where are the stonehenges? I have some schoolwork and little time to play. If you could tell me, I will be able to help sooner and more efficiently.

The old that is strong does not wither,

Just look at the VISR map. There are 3 marked on the map, two of which have pillars. One is marked on the map but has no pillars (which is weird). Look for them inside courtyards, they're are usually accessed via security doors. Unless you are asking what level they are in, which is Mombasa Streets (any nighttime level).

-EDIT-
Did anyone notice that after bumping out into the dark zone there were some supply cashes that looked slightly different from the normal ones?

Actually, in First Strike, Fred had touched a Forerunner symbol, which was an extremely sharp stone-glass hybrid-y thing. His blood did activate the opening into the amphitheater, though, so your are correct on that.

And as for the rest of this thread, I'll help in any way possible. You have some very good evidence, and I can't help but feel there is something out there. Be it a sword, or a packet of Jelly Beans.
