I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.
Now there are alot of wants for Campaign. Some people want an all Spartan Campaign. Some people want a Covenant one thrown in there. Some people want to be Master Chief, while others would rather be Fred. Some want to be an ODST, others want to be Grunts.
The way I see it there is only one really good way to fully meet everyone's expectations and wants. A split campaign.
I really think personally that the Master Chief should appear as a Cameo, but this also allows him to be fully playable.
Ok. First question I guess is how many of you have played Sonic Adventure 2? It was a split campaign, you could choose to be either the good guys, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, or you could be evil, playing Shadow, Eggman, and Rouge. If you ever managed to beat BOTH stories, there was a final story, where you played as Each character once, then fought a boss battle as both Super Sonic AND Super Shadow (it was alot less complicated than you might think...)
Anyway, My thought is a split campaign in this format. You pick a side, UNSC OR Covenant, and when you complete one, you can move on and do the other. Beat both and you unlock the final campaign.
Now here is how I think this should work. And it would be pretty awesome.
OK. You pick the UNSC side. Who do you play as? Well, you will spend some time as Fred, Buck, and a new Marine (yes marine, neither ODST NOR Spartan). This will provide a nice long campaign (bouncing around the story of these 3 characters.)
OR You could just play one Spartan, like Fred, for the whole game.
Then on the Covenant side you will play as an Elite, a Grunt, and a Jackal. Again with the same Idea, the Elite plays like Fred, the Jackal plays like Buck, the Grunt plays like the Marine. OR one Elite for the whole game.
For the Final Campaign, you will get to see the "Prequel" to Halo CE. It wouldn't necessarily take place after the game, but more during. You play as Master Chief, and do his ops mission on the orbital platform. At the end you get to see him take off in the Pillar or Autumn.
Now if Bungie truly wants to make a Campaign THAT Diverse, they will have to use 2 disks, one Multiplayer, one Campaign. This would work fantastically, as the Campaign AND Multiplayer can be more than they have ever been before. Better, Bigger.
So what do you guys think?
