Now first, you may be coming into this thread saying to yourself "This is an absurd topic." But let me assure you that this will make perfect sense to you when you read through.
On to my point now, grass, which is found only on maps such as Vahalla and Isolation in the most recent Halo-multiplayer experience. The grass makes up most of the landscape of these maps, but only acts as a bit of scenery, while sand and snow, two other objects that make up the landscape of other maps have gameplay altering qualities. In both sand and snow grenades do not bounce off of, but rather just stay wherever they were thrown at, which takes away grenade bouncing, a vital part of most Halo 3 players' strategies. So the grass needs some kind of power(s) to compete with the other two as being the most gameplay altering landscape. So what do I propose to make the grass stronger in Reach? Well three things need to be done:
First, grenades have to bounce at a lower angle and with less speed then they do on solid floors such as those on Construct and any other map that features floors, and/or paved areas. This small change will make the grass more realistic like sand and snow are. Have you ever tried bouncing a ball on grass? If you have then you will realize it does still bounce, but they u sually do not have the same velocity as it might on pavement or a solid floor.
Secondly, people and vehicles should move slower on grass. It's a proven fact that vehicles are not capable of achieving the same speed on grass as they are on solid pavement. Also, you do not see Olympic runners running on grass, or the base paths of a baseball field made with grass. Grass does not allow people to reach their top speed, so even Spartans should move at least a little slower on grassy areas.
Third and finally, grass grows, everyone knows that. So I propose that over the course of games on maps with grass in Reach, the grass should grow, to the point where it can possibly make some routes less accessible and opening up others, changing the gameplay of the map greatly.(Remember, that this isn't Earth grass we are talking about here, this is other-worldly grass that could grow several feet over the span of 10-15 minutes) It would add a nice twist to those absurdly long and boring games.
With these three changes, grass will be the most respected landscape in the Halo Universe.
