*Do note before reading this, the canon for Halo weapon mechanics seems to change every game, even from Halo 3 to ODST there were little change, such as the AR spread tightening up and the new Carbine firing sound, thusly we can get around simply Copy-Pasting the Halo: CE AR into Reach.*
I'd like to see an AR that works on par, or prefferabbly superior, to todays' assault rifles (M4 and AK74 spring to mind). Fairly high accuracy, even more so as the MJOLNIR armour and the brute stregth of the Spartan IIs can help cancel out some of the recoil. There would still be some spread, but that would only become a problem in longer bursts, say past the tenth round. A 3-5 round burst would be around as accurate as the Halo 3 Carbine or BR.
However, I would like to see some old mechanics return. The small, ineffective bullets from the MA5B should return along with the 60 round clip. That I believe shouldn't be retconned and lost in the annuals of time. In the event the SMG shows up, that should get the same treatment too, accuracy akin to the P90 or the Doom 3 Machinegun (which is very similar to the P90); not as good as the AR, but in CQB can overwhelm other weapons with sheer spam.
