Stand close enough to them and just shoot with whatever weapon you like, the tank won't fire, but you can kill it easily.

If you throw a grenade into the hole below the gun, it will blow up. however this can be hard to do and is dangerous. It is quicker than trying to hit it with four rockets.

The best way to do anything is to take your time.
Whenever I can I just get a marine in the back of a warthog and run cicles around it so that it fires feebly behind me whilst my marine buries it in a pile of LAAG shells.

But EVERY time you have to fight a wraith, the game gives you a rocket launcher, which makes the whole situation rather simple.

I also like using the tank.
Tank is good.

I couldn't find a more appropriate thread, so I'll post this here;
Does anyone else hate the fact that if you try to stand on a moving vehicle you die? You could be so much more creative with the way you took vehicles out if you could stand on them. Like the Wraith, you could stand on that and throw a grenade down the hole, or in a warthog, the driver would have to do some pretty erratic driving to get the attacker off, etc..

bah

If you have a tank, or the higher ground it's a sinch. But the middle two wraiths on Two Betrayals can be a real -blam!-. I'm talking about the wraith that is in the first area after all the bridges and the wraith after that before the second pulse generator. These tanks are hard to get near without them killing you. But thety are still easy to take out if you have patience.

Holy crap they are.
Well, they can be a HUGE problem on legendary though.
One time my brother and I were riding the Warthog on AOTCR right after we had left the large building.
All of our men were killed promptly.
MY brother and I were hit head on with the mortar.
The warthog flew up in the air and I jumped out.
My brother was alive up in the air falling down but when he hit the ground he died.
He respawned as I ran past the tank,
He was killed again.
The tank shot at me but blew some of its own guys up.
I thought I had escaped with I jumped off the ledge to the side.
Nope.
The tank followed me off.
This was probably the most terrifying/ funny/ cool thing ever that has happened to me in halo.
I sat there face to face with the friggin wraith.
I could see its stupid gun charging up to shoot.
In that split second I knew I was screwed.
Luckily my brother had retrieved the Scorpion tank .
He shot the Wraith in the back.
Blowing it the f*** up.
Haha.
Good times.
Other than that I just stand behind a tree and all the mortars just run into that.

Wraiths are easy.

BTW, for those who don't know, theres a big glitch on Two Betrayals (not really a glitch). The tank under the second pulse generator and by the opening to the huge cave has a BIG aiming problem. When you go to this area, go to the right to take out the Hunters. Then, take out the two Banshees when they come to attack you. Now, go where there is a frozen pond in front of the Wraith (when facing the cave its to the right). Don't go on the pond and don't cross it...stay right by the shore of it. With your LAAG, open up on the Wraith. THE WRAITH WILL NOT HIT YOU!!! It'll send mortars by you, but they won't even come close. Very easy way to take out this particular Wraith.

bah

That's how I always take that one out. Park the hog right next to the tree and blast away for a minute. For some reason, that particular wraith doesn't mind firing at me when I get too clsoe either. I went point-blank with a shotgun a couple of times, and the damn thing fired at me anyway. Stupid tank...

If wraith tanks become pilotable in Halo 2 (I hope), they should be two person vehicles, the first person moves the tank around and the other person fires the weapon. It should also have a unique (well, for the most part) aiming style for the person that is firing the weapon.

This idea came from the game "ARMY MEN: Sarges heros", in that game they had a morter. When you went to fire it it'd show you a piece of ground (basically, where it's going to hit), you'd use your controler's analog stick to move it around showing you where the plasma cannon will strike when fired.

The only problem they did (I guess they didn't ntoice) in the Army Men game was the fact EVERYONE could see the flippin crosshairs... Meaning it was impossible to hit anyone with the gun in multiplayer. IF anyone can see it, it should only be teammates (so they don't get hit by it.

I was playing AOTCR on Legendary the other day and that first Wraith was getting on my nerves. It hit near the rocket launcher with a mortar, so of course it went flying. I threw some grenades, but was getting annoyed, so I ran up to it (dodging mortars) and jumped on top unloading on it with all I had (lucky it didn't try to move). It worked pretty well, until it blew up, leaving me with 2 or 3 bars of health.

I love throwing plasma grenades on them when they don't notice me. They'll start spinning and spinning and spinng (giving me time to throw more, thus making them spin more), then I use frags and such... (it works well on the third tank that hides up top of that tunnel in AotCR.
