Do you think it will be included in this game? if so what are some of your ideas? I'm hoping they'll put in a level designer
as in create a mini-campaign and you choose where the covenant spawn and stuff like that. maybe even put in a small firefight mode but instead it's played on your map.

-I was here

That would be epic fun. I'd like to create the hardest campaign mission and try to beat it.

Steven

I highly doubt they will have a level designer. A level would be meaningless without a plot or dialogue. Plus, levels are far larger than a multiplayer map. It would take far more work to create than most people are willing to invest. For this reason, it would not be worthwhile for bungie to develop. Im not saying it wouldnt be cool, im just saying its inpractical.

Yea, definitely not going to happen. It would be a waste of money and such, but fun none the less.

Half-life 2 did it. millions of people still play the game just so they can create and submit there stuff.

Nihilism (from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical position that argues that existence is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value.

Put simply in the words of Nietzsche as "the will to nothingness".

Hate to be a downer.

I doubt a console could run a map editor like this, Operation Flashpoint has a really good one but on the console version it was cut.

Maybe if they cut out theatre, new weapons, firefight and sacrifice campaign length aswell as multiplayer maps and overall detail and polish they could fit it in. Do you think it's worth it?

Long answer short, no. Sounds fun though.

Well unfortunately your right. but the creation of levels and adding covenant or a firefight mode is entirely possible.

Oh yea, I know it isn't going to happen. Maybe it would be possible if it was for the PC, but for a console, very slim chance (or just impossible).

Your talking about levels right? because using the forge we have today and adding a firefight mode isn't a huge stretch D=
they'd just add an option to spawn a spawn point for where the covenants dropship would go and drop off enemies.

I'm not a programmer so I wouldn't know, but I doubt its that simple.

I know a thing or two and it's not that hard. just takes work. a lot. and well it's a new game and they have time so why not throw some ideas around?

Well, they're just about ready to release their MP Beta, so I think it may be a little too late to add something like this to the game. Wouldn't it consist of adding in new scripts, data, etc.?

A simple forgeable FireFight is enough for me:)

ahh but see the MP beta is about matchmaking. not forge. and even though we'll be playing on completed maps. They can still add to forge because it's about the content in the map and not the map itself.

A forgable firefight seems much more realistic.

Timesplitters had a thing sort of like this come to think of it. That was on a console years ago mind you, it definitely is possible with today's tech.

True, MM =/= Forge. But, wouldn't they have to not only add all the files and data, but make sure it runs smoothly with the random environment you place? Like will they pick up weapons and equipment? Will they have different difficulties? And so on.

Well, in firefight the covenant didn't pick up weapons so that's out. and the difficulty setting could be determined in the pre-game lobby (custom games) or firefight lobby. Now about them walking smoothly around random environment... well my idea is that they'll let you spawn and information node that will tell the A.I where it can walk and where it can't or where it's supposed to patrol.

Sounds good but if we can spawn an information node that tells the AI what to do, we can easily make strategies before we even start the match =/ where's the fun in knowing exactly what the enemy would do?

Ever here about halo custom edition it may be against the rules but people who made those maps dedicated years to that

i would do anything to be able to place campaign bots on my custom maps wich are just sitting there collecting dust. there isnt one game out there that offers a wave after wave of enemie game type with custom map creation. who will be the first?

  • 10.02.2009 11:27 AM PDT

I would prefer an actual map editor to having forge again...
