Environment Artist (Contract Position)

Bungie is looking for journeymen and fresh talent eager to join an incredible team of contract artists responsible for adding an unprecedented level of realism and polish to our next AAA title

As you see in this job post from bungie, they say they are working on their next AAA title. Emphasis on the word next. Meaning, they've had previous AAA titles. Halo 3 was a triple A title. It only means that the game will be of very high quality.

even though I'm probably as annoyed as you are by people it "THE AAA ENGINE *scary music*", I don't think it deserves a whole thread only to tell them (most of them won't even believe it/read it/notice it anyway)..

I sell Graphic Designs.

If interested, contact me.

I know its about the the quality of it. But because it doesnt have a name, people refer it as the 'AAA engine'.

You maybe right. But hey, if i can stop just one person from posting another thread about it, then i've broke even. But like you said, they probably wont listen, so who knows.

You may know that, but i get the feeling alot of these people dont. When somebody says "I heard bungie is using something called the AAA engine" i feel the need to enlighten them.

I totally agree, people that say that sound unbelievably stupid. Like Bungie has the only AAA engine. I'm sure Naughty Dog, Guerilla Games, Infinity Ward, and Epic's engines would be considered AAA.

WyIdfyre: 'lol, who the hell would even wear those?'
AuSam: 'lol, who the hell would even have sex with dogs?'

Although it could mean their NEXT triple A engine game, as Reach is nearing completeion.

They are. People don't seem to realize that AAA =/= Crysis

Crysis seems more like a AAAAAAAAAA engine. Halo 3's engine was AAA in 2007.

Does it matter what people call it? It doesn't have a given, easily recognizable name like "Unreal Engine" or "CryEngine", so if people are talking about it, it's easiest to just say "AAA Engine".

Even if it can refer to any high quality engine, we all know what they're talking about. Obviously we're not going to confuse it for something else on the Reach forums.

dude... you're high.
even when the game was announced at the E3 for the very first time, psbots, halo haters and anybody who weren't brainwashed fans used to call H3 halo 2.5, or halo 2 HD.
and honestly, that's exactly what it was. it barely looked better. it wasn't an AAA engine... I'd call it a B engine.

GoW's engine came out BEFORE H3 and this one was AAA for it's time.

Maybe it's not AAA graphically, but as far as realism in it's randomness of physics and the possibility for unexpected, non-scripted things (watch the Halo 3 Fails vids for example) to happen, it surpasses alot of other engines entirely.

AAA doesn't even refer to quality. It refers to the amount spent on the game.

This. You can't find these sorts of things in most other FPS's.
