Well,
First of all I know, Halo is a button mashing FPS.
I don't want to change much or any of the current gameplay, all of these things I'm saying will have a button mashing equivelent for those who don't want to flail their paws in the air.
1. Ammo sharing.
I'm not sure about where to implmenet this. Probably Campaign/Firefight is best, although it could work in matchmaking.
It works like this:
Player A will have ammo in their Assault Rifle.
Player B has just emptied his last clip into something.
Player knows Player B needs the ammo so will share it.
Player A will move close to Player B, while shooting or not shooting. When touching or within a certain distance, Player A will hold RB (not tap) Half his spare ammo will then be flung at player B.
Player B has the option now to swing his arm across and 'catch' it from midair, or simple hold RB when its in the reticle and he has the empty gun equipped.
If he misses he will have to locate it on the ground.
Player A still has his loaded clip, but his reserve will be halfed.
Player B will now have the other half to carry on fighting with.
A good team would be able to do this in roughly 2-3 seconds if they are within sensible range.
2. The Coin toss.
This is to determine which team starts the game as which side (attackers or defenders, even for slayer if you understand the spawning system).
This is done by a player from one team being selected at random. They will call heads or tails, (by selection not voice) they will then have to do the same 'catching' motion as they did for ammo sharing, although the timing must be much better. If they catch it succesfully the chances are raised of it being theirs, if they miss the chances are lowered. This can be also done by having an unmoving reticle in the screen, about sniper size, they must press A when it goes through this. The coin will always have a randomised speed, although with a lowest minimum to stop easy 'catches'. Calling succesfully gets you the choice. Failing to gets the other team to have the choice.
So there are my two little ideas, if you can think of any good ones post them, I may add them to the OP, comment constructively and thanks for reading.
