I wish I was still legendary.
Kinda like valhalla but bigger and with some extra stuff. I'm still fleshing it out, but here's what I have so far:
Shield World Map
The map has two bases - each base has, depending on gametype:
a scorpion
a banshee
a warthog
There's a forerunner structure off to the side of the map, with a turret mound in front of it. Within this structure (all it is is a hallway with a large room at the end. Inside this room is a pulse generator like in Halo one (scenery) and a sniper with two reloads and a full clip.
On the other side of the map is a shield of sorts. Behind this can be found another weapon/powerup that I haven't decided on yet.
This map would be very vehicle heavy, even more so than Valhalla already is. It would also be slightly flatter (no river, no massive outcrops) so that vehicles could move safely. Not so flat as that you can pull a blood gulch and snipe the other team's spawn points, but still pretty flat.
As with Valhalla, the two bases extend into the ground. However, this map has a small set of underground tunnels that will open up near the map's centre. This is to allow relatively safe movement on foot. The tunnels will be lined with a few power cores to stop people camping and allow for fighting.
They will also periodically open into small rooms with three entrances - at these points, the tunnels meet and diverge. These small rooms each have three fusion coils stuck to the walls, and there are four of these small rooms in all - four entrances to the tunnels. The tunnels will have a sort of energy shield at their entrances that only repels vehicles, and even then only acts as ground (not catapulting them upward). This can be deleted in forge.
Spawn points, for players and objectives, are in a medium-sized room directly under the base. This has a ramp straight out of it alongside the tunnels and a door to either side.
WEAPONS:
I haven't figured out where these will be yet beyond the sniper and turret. It is likely that the tunnels will have a few sentinel beams in them and that the level will have mainly covenant weapons, since it's set on a shield world not yet discovered by humans.
That's the practical stuff. As you can see, it's not COMPLETELY fleshed out yet. I want to get feedback on the idea so far so I can build people's ideas that are popular into it.
Anyway...the skybox and effects. The map is set on a shield world, so the skybox will have large clouds of sentinels flying by. Covenant cruisers can be seen in the distance glassing an area which the sentinels are flying towards. Immediately outside the map can be seen multiple forerunner buildings similar to the one partially inside the map, along with (farther out) what looks like solid metal ground - this is actually sentinels like on onyx.
Otherwise, the map is at dusk and relatively cloudy. it orbits a red giant so the clouds have a reddish tinge. I can't quite show these in my idea currently but they'll be there in later versions. There will be a sort of particle effect on the map of ash falling lightly from the sky, and periodically the controller will lightly vibrate as something happens involving the covenant ships.
yeah. I want your suggestions on how to improve this. Currently it's the bare bones of a map, with one piece of concept art. I KNOW that there is stuff I should change to make this a decent suggestion. I want to get it to the point where it works for everyone though.
