My problem with equipment is that Bungie keeps the ridiculous stuff and takes out the good stuff. When you have two regens or bubbles on a map that respawn every minute, the game doesn't come down to controlling and thinking (as the strong weapons are typically only one to a map each and/or have long spawn times). Rather, some guy who sucks randomly picks up a piece of equipment and turns the tide, not because he's good.
On the other hand, very useful and TACTICAL pieces of equipment (not cheap - tactical) like the radar jammer are taken out. People complain because it blocks your own radar, but if you are observant before you set it up and/or you use it at the right time or coupled with invis or group assaults, it's amazing.
I'm not opposed to equipment, and just because it's a lower tech game doesn't mean it has to go back to the stone age. We have things in the field today that could be like equipment, so why not in the future? However, I don't want to cheapen the game like Halo 3 has been on certain maps. I think your suggestion could be an ok piece if extremely limited in amount and duration, but Halo is a lot about communication and teamwork, not to mention you have shields that prevent instakills for the most part. Camping isn't usually the issue, it's lack of teamwork. I don't like the idea of gimmes like this suggestion would be.
