Ok i'm just putting this out there, what if Halo Reach doesn't have master chief?

Im sure most people have come to terms with ODST not having everyones favourite tank in it, but what if Halo Reach follows suit and removes master chief from the game. I could see some logic behind it, as bungie could get the immpression that people are a little bit tired of MC or think it might be better to save him for a fourth installment of the halo series, but for me this would just be a brutal blow.

I got ODST on the day of release and loved every minuite of it, from the atmospheric tension to the sheer glory of new Mobasssa and while i loved playing as an ODST i still missed the power and comfort of playing as Master Chief.
I fear ODST might be a test to see how players react to not having Master Chief, or was used as a way to prepare players for the end of Master Chief's part in the Halo series.
I know there are other forums saying that master chief is in Reach and they give very reasuring evidence to the return of Master Chief, but i just have a sad feeling that bungie might put an end to Master Chief's beloved role.

To add some evidence to my theory i will point out that in the Halo books MC is sent somewhere else while the other spartans battle it out on Reach. I know that in the series he does go back at some point to find his fellow spartans (some of whom survived the planet being glassed), but this wouldn't provide a story line as gripping as trying to save a planet.
So if the worst happened, would you miss Master Chief?

Proud frenchie, elite fan, anthro artist not hellbent on yiff convention/pics/whatever, mature and intelligent forum guy, 4chaner, halo 2 lover and halo 3 hater.

I like how people (not you it seems) say OMFG THEY'RE NO MC LOLOLOL ITS NOT HALO GAEM!!111. they don't seem to realize MC is not mandatory in a halo game.

he's as mandatory to halo as dark vador is mandatory in SW. he was the hero (in that case, the villain) of a trilogy... everything with the name halo doesn't NEED to have MC as hero. see : ODST and halo wars.

so if we don't play as him, I can't care less (literally)... I don't buy halo to play as MC anyway.

Honestly i did just fine in ODST without playing as Master Chief.

I mean i was used to all the abilities of being a spartan from all the previous Halo games, but to see the game from someone else's perspective was pretty cool so i could really care less about playing as a Spartan or a ODST because the gameplay is still fun and entertaining.

The game will have Master Chief in it. You can see him in the poster for reach. The characters from left to right go:
-Sam
-Kelly
-Master Chief
-Fred
-and, Linda

If you've read the books, it's pretty easy to figure out.

Feet First Into Hell.
ODST General since Halo 2
Xbox Live status - Repaired

While its likely he will be in, its not going to kill me in any way if he isn't playable.

Im pretty sure that then there was more than one spartan left. Just listen to the part in the trailer where they say, "Spartan's on the ground, and were not going anywhere". Or at least they say something close to that, so im pretty sure that the "Master Chief" isnt going to as important, and if he is in the campaign they are going to call him Spartan 117, and or John(which is his real name), or something close to that anyway.

Link to the trailer here.

i understand what you are saying and have read halo: the fall of reach (great book) but you seem to be avoiding the question of missing Master Chief or John if you prefer

If you read the books, you would know that Sam was dead for 27 years.
