Subject: Will Reach's Story be lacking?

Okay so many of you have played ODST by now. It was a fun game but in my opinion the story was nowhere near as good as the other 3 Halos. We already knew the outcome, and because of that there really wasn't any mystery to the story at all, it only consisted of "link up with your squad, and escape the city." There was no depth to it really. Now with that being said, in a lot of ways Reach is the same scenario. We already know what the outcome will be. How can they right a classic Halo story with twists and turns when there is no mystery to it at all? This really makes me worry because story is very important to me in my games and it is one of the reason I loved the Halo trilogy so much. Think of it as already knowing the ending to a movie. Do you really wan to see it if someone already spoiled it for you? If Halo Reach follows in the footsteps of ODST, though, I feel as though the story will lack the depth and tension that were present in the trilogy. What do you guys think?

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

I actually think ODST's story topped Halo 3.
And the Campaign missions themselves topped Halo 2. (Which I felt were above Halo 3.

Lets face it, Halo 3's story was -blam!-.

And the only game so far that was really better than ODST was definitely CE.

How? all it consisted of was link up with your squad, escape the city. There was no tension, or mystery to it at all.

Virgil.

Also, Tsavo Highway, The Covenant, and The Ark are all better than anything in Halo 2.

Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien.
Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar.
tenn' Ambar-metta!

There's nothing secret about the Fall of Reach if you read the book "the Fall of Reach", only some Spartans, plus i liked more the H3 campaign than ODST campaign.

Plus the battle of Reach was the most bloodiest battle of all the halo universe, i think it will be a lot of fun.

Enough with the messages,
I don't want to join your stupid groups.

I honestly thought ODST was better than all other Halo games in almost every way, except for CE.
ODST's story was told better, the vehicles are better, weapons are better, gameplay overall was just better.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

I really don't care. If they pull off a story, fantastic. But I am not pinning my hopes on the story mode, especially after Halo 2, 3 and ODST's campaigns.

If there is no story what drives the game foward? I hope they really can pull off a good story

Need a dispenser here! Need a dispenser here! Need a dispenser here!

There's a difference between there not being a story, and there being a story that's known to you as you experience it.

Reach's story will be great, regardless of the previous knowledge of the outcome; I mean, look at the trailer... from the beginning, you DO know the end.

Reach's story is not going to be the book. Its going to be a different story set with the backdrop of this dramatic event.

And Reach's story will be far from lacking. As the trailer says, the moment you start the game, you know what's going to happen at the very end. Reach fell, dude. Doesn't exactly scream rainbows and smiley faces to me.

Um... I like Halo? I don't really know what to say. I'm a student at the moment, I hope to become a criminal profiler, and I enjoy pretty much everything as long as it's good.

What is more important to you the destination or the road to it? I know Bungie can make a whole bunch of twists and turns that keep the story fresh while maintaining it in canon.
