I don't know if this has been said because I cant follow all ofthe forerunner talk but this is also somewhat based on what someone else said in theory. So here it is: The theory that this is based on is that the Forerunner may have been like a peaceful covenant, a union of inter-stellar species, so perhaps, just perhaps maybe, the human race was part of this, and for whatever reason broke away, and maybe the covenant are whats left of the Forerunner after we left, and then that would then explain why the covenant want to wipe us out, because we broke away from the "Forerunner Union" or whatever you want to call it, and maybe then because the covenants tech is just forerunner tech reused, then maybe their tech could only advance farther from help with the human race, and once we broke away, they became incapable of developing new tech. but this theory is probably easily dis-proveable, but i'm just pitching ideas.

Mmmm its a good theory, except the covenant refer to the forerunner as 'the gods' and also see their technology as holy. But why would they act this way if they where part of the forerunner?

Obviously your theory is crapola (no offense). Don't you think humans would know about being a part of the Covenant at one point or another? Wouldn't we have some technology that signified that?

You can't even say, "Maybe it was just a really long time ago." We would have been too primitive. We would have been unable to participate in the advanded technologies of other races if they came to us with them, and we would have been too caveman-like to make our own crazy devices.

Sorry to disapoint you, but you need to do some harder thinking or some reading. halo.bungie.org has some brilliant stuff on Forerunner theories. Well, some of it is crapola as well, but a lot of it is worth checking out.

perhaps the humans and covenant faced eachother in a battle a long time ago. The humans were defeated and the covenant thought they were viped out. the humans lost all of their tech bacause of that. this theory can also link to theory that the humans are holier than any of the other species, but tat the prophets keep it secret beacuase they don'r want to lose their power

If we fought a battle with the Covenant long ago, how would we just LOSE all of our technology? There would be some kind of trace of it. And if we at one time long ago had a space program, don't you think there'd be some kind of remnants? No matter how you look at it the idea is completely unrealistic and ridiculous sounding.

If anybody had contact with Forerunners at some point in history it was probably the humans, even though that seems highly ridiculous too. If there was any human-Forerunner contact/interaction, it was not done on live terms.

One thing to keep in mind, however, is the fact that we don't know why the Covenant is after us.

Perhaps the Forerunners built some kind of installation on Earth and because the Covenant regards them as holy, they want us dead for having access to a Forerunner installation that they assume we have messed with, thus dishonoring thier holy ones. Can anyone say the pyramids?

I agree that the Prophets definitely have some secrets to hide, but why speculate right now when we don't know much of anything about them?

i think this could work with the humans from the future thingy, if we don't have the tech now then i doubt we ever had it.

'If anybody had contact with Forerunners at some point in history it was probably the humans, even though that seems highly ridiculous too. If there was any human-Forerunner contact/interaction, it was not done on live terms. ' -does anyone actually know if all this will be awnsered in halo 2??? i havn't been part of the comunity for long and don't even have an xbox (im PS2 and PC), so i don't know if theyre mostly aiming for gameplay or plot.

'Perhaps the Forerunners built some kind of installation on Earth and because the Covenant regards them as holy, they want us dead for having access to a Forerunner installation that they assume we have messed with, thus dishonoring thier holy ones. Can anyone say the pyramids?' -i heard someone say that this is why they invade earth, because of some holy powerful item in some huge mountain. is thjis why they invade The Moon??? do they invade the moon???

As of right now most Forerunner stuff is pure speculation and guesswork. As for the Covenant invading the moon, I'm pretty sure that won't happen.

"i heard someone say that this is why they invade earth, because of some holy powerful item in some huge mountain."

What you're refering to right there hex222 is from Halo: First Strike. There is a powerful Forerunner crystal with the ability to bend space-time that the Covenant were after on Reach. It was buried deep in a mountain inside a huge chamber.

It sounds like you don't have a whole lot of information on the Halo universe hex222, so my suggestion is to check out the books. They have a lot of great information. Halo: The Fall of Reach (prequel), Halo: The Flood (book of the game), and Halo: First Strike (what happens between games).
