Subject: No equipment or Br's in halo reach? Chronological analysis.

Halo CE=Chess
Halo 2=Backgammon
Halo 3=Checkers
Halo Reach=Rock-Paper-Scissors

I was recently discussing the timeline of halo with a friend of mine when we realised that halo: reach, being based on the book halo: the fall of reach, acts as a prequel to halo: CE. This means that the events which take place in halo reach happen before any of the current halo games.

With this knowledge in mind, halo: reach, if it is to follow a chronological flow of time it can not have equipment or Br's as they were introduced in halo 3, and halo 2, accordingly. Granted, it could be that all of these could have been invented before halo: CE but not incorporated into the combat at the time but this seems unlikely.

Most likely, it seems we are either going to see the Halo:CE pistol and AR return, or a completely new set of primary spawn weapons.

If they took the BR away it would be a fail of a competitive game and MLG would abandon it. It is as simple as that.

Enough with the messages,

The BR was created 25 years before Halo CE, so its a possibility.

What if it is not a competative game? like in halo :ce, where the only competativeness was in that 16 player ctf match on blood gulch.

i dont think that ture, just by looking at the halo reach pic on top of the page. that looks like a BR in a spartans hand. And i also think there will be different characters to play as a picture is worth a thousand words.

Halo Timeline That is the timeline of all events in the Halo story. Do you honestly think that all the equipment, BR's, SMG's, etc. were developed and released to standard infantry (Marines) and Spartans in a matter of a few months? Use your mind. The Battle of Reach is 2 weeks before Halo:CE.
Also: Contact Harvest Johnson is holding a BR (an early prototype) 30 years before the Battle of Reach.

It looks like a BR + AR hybrid.

I support MLG.
I support Flag-Running
I support BR
I support non-broken gameplay

I do not support the AR.

I assume you've played Halo: ODST? Remember that the story takes place during Halo 2; the Brutes had Gravity Hammers in ODST, even though the Hammer was first introduced in Halo 3.

I wouldn't be surprised if the BR was included with Halo: Reach, but nobody really knows yet.

Two weeks?
If I remember correctly they're escaping Reach right at the beginning of Halo CE

The slipspace journey from Reach to Halo was about 2 weeks. So 2 weeks after the Battle of Reach, the Pillar of Autumn makes it to Halo.

Look out.... -boom- (headshot)
I told you to look out, but know, you got in my way, was going to shoot that splaser....

Actually the Slip Space jump took only a matter of hours, travel through Slip Space was, and still is, experimental and time manipulation unpredictable, it turned what would have been a few day travel period into a matter of hours and the Battles on the first Halo only spanned a few days, week and a half at max.

Project SPARTAN II begins on Reach with 75 conscripts. Project SPARTAN is an attempt to develop an effective, surgical military team to relieve political tensions and circumvent civil war.

MA5K, it is a cutdown assult rifle with out the extra plating, making it look like a short battle rifle, and it can sport a scope.

In Halo: First Strike, on Reach during the battle of Reach, the Spartans are given Battle Rifles.

The human weapons in Halo 1 were not the current tech, they were just the equipment given to the Marines of a Halcyon-class (a joke within the fleet) cruiser. The weapons aboard the POA directed for the Spartan special op were destroyed during the battle of Reach.

Only three days. at the third day, Halo is destroyed, leaving a lone[?] SPARTAN-II as the only survivor[?].

Aug 30, 2552 ...end up onboard the Pillar of Autumn when she jumps away from the Reach system to evade Covenant forces...
Sep 19, 2552: The Pillar Of Autumn arrives at Halo.
Looks like a little under 3 weeks. Nice try though. Source: (as I posted in my other post) Halo Timeline

BR's were found on Reach (Ghost of Onyx), but they weren't directly supplied to the marines yet. It is totally possible that the Spartans will discover these BRs and begin to use them.

If you look closely you'll see that it is the normal Assault Rifle, just being held up by a Spartan. The one holding the sniper rifle is most likely Linda, their sniper expert. The one holding the AR is most likely John and the one of the far left is most likely Fred.

And just for fun I edited your post. :P

  • 10.03.2009 6:46 PM PDT

Actually, if you look on the cover of the book "Contact Harvest", Johnson is holding a BR

  • 10.03.2009 6:53 PM PDT

Uh...Deployable Covers have been around since Halo CE. They were just made into equipment in Halo 3.

Anyways, the BR Prototype was around during the first battle of Harvest (2525), it would be idiotic for it not to havebeen in production until 23-24 years afterward.

You have no idea what you're talking about. MLG has been using halo since halo 1. Even some of the pros are quoted as saying the pistol was superior. Don't try and act like you're better than everyone else because of a gametype. As for the OP, the BR has been noted as being field tested in the novels. They even hint at it in first strike, which takes place on Reach. Nothing is counted out. Quite honestly i hope we see more of a halo 1 pistol rather than a BR. Just so the MLG wannabes whine. ^_^

Actually, it could still have not been in production by the battle of reach, or at least not of had been massed produced. there could of had been problems with it, therefore a change must of had been aplied, then go for live testing. But, after the battle of reach, all test where droped, and the rifle was pushed into service. same happend with the lee enfield, the M1 Garand, the thomson smg, the M16(to a certain degree, the war showed up as the rifle finished developement), and the legendary AK-47.

-Big Dawg (ODST that has Recon)

BR and equipment were taken away in ODST but that game is the best so far

But a quarter of a century? The prototype already proved that it was very capable, so why wait another 25 years?
