The Covenant attack on Reach takes place about three weeks before Halo CE.

Halo CE takes place about 4 weeks before Halo 2.

Halo 2 takes place not long before Halo 3.(couldn't find the dates)

It is only about 8 months from the attack on Reach by the Covenant to the end of the war. That means almost everything in Halo 3 was there during Reach, it just hadn't been added to the Halo canon yet. If Bungie remade Halo CE according to the updated cannon we would see most of the weapons and vehicles in Halo 3. ODST is a prime example of that.

Please correct me if my times are not correct but I do know they are close and serve their purpose.

If you don't believe me just look for yourself.

The trailer takes place as the Covenant attack Reach so no it doesn't take place long before Halo CE. Not much has changed from Halo CE/2/3.

Exactly. Also, if the three games even took place so close together, then Master Chief would have Mark VI armor instead of Mark V. Armor cannot be upgraded that quickly, especially with that kind of technology.

Besides, all of we know, this entire game could have a long timeline to it. It could even have battles from other planets as well in it that took prior before Reach falls. Only one Halo game took place only on a Halo, not anywhere else.

The POA jumped from reach to escape the attack. Unless the POA was in slipspace for like a year halo reach took place right before halo CE.

MCs armor was destroyed from the time of Halo CE to his journey back to earth. Mark VI was probably just finished so they were more than willing to give it to the last known Spartan II.

What I said didn't mean the war ended long before Halo CE.

Halo: Reach takes place immediately before Halo: CE; anyone who's read Halo: The Fall of Reach knows this.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Well he wasn't the last known Spartan at that time. Fred, Will, and Linda were all on Earth after the battle of New Mombasa; it's not known if they were given MkVI or not. The cover of Ghosts of Onyx seems to suggest at least one of them recieved it.
