Resident Evil 4 is a very good game, even better if you're an RE fan. The story strays from the usual moaning-but-not-to-bright zombies and throws enemies at you that are faster and smarter than before. You'll find yourself barricading doors and windows in houses, only to have groups of enemies using ladders, molotov cocktails and chainsaws to try and get at you. No more Tyrant or Nemesis-the boss characters in RE4 take on some really disturbing designs, along the lines of stuff you'd see in the Silent Hill series. Tons of outdoor enviroments.....it's RE completely re-imagined. Instead of the locked camera angles, you get the over the shoulder view, which is far better for aiming. Each gun is equipped with a laser sight, so those days of hoping the Magnum is pointed at the zombie's head are over. In fact, the aiming is now precise enough that you can shoot weapons out enemy's hands, or blow up molotov cocktails and take out a group of rushing enemies.
One of the more interesting parts of RE4's design is that the game is presented in a Widescreen format(those black bars on the top and bottom for the don't knows).
Rather than keep the game full-screen, they did the WS view so that players would have a better angle on periphiary attacks, and it works nicely. It gives RE4 a very cinematic feel. FPS shooters should consider a WS view.....it'd be more realistic if your periphial vision was better.
Great game, yeah, but I can't really say it's better than Halo, because they're 2 completely different types of games. RE4's the best game in the survival/horror genre, and Halo's the best game in the FPS genre......just depends on the experience you're looking for.
