I'm xAssault12x, and I love the Halo Universe. Discussion please!
Reach was the UNSC's military Head Quarters. It was the most defended position in the UNSC. It had 24 orbital Super MAC guns and around 300 ships in orbit at any given time. Reach was attacked just prior to the events of Halo CE by a massive Covenant fleet. The UNSC did their best, but in the end the Covenant prevailed and the battle for Reach was lost. The Pillar of Autumn and the majority of all the original Spartan IIs took part in the battle.
The Pillar of Autumn under the command of Captain Jacob Keys and run by Cortana managed to retrieve Master Chief from an orbital facility right before the battle was lost. Unfortunetly the majority of the Spartans were on the surface and the Pillar of Autumn was unable to attempt to retrieve them as well. Capatain Keys ordered Cortana to make a random slip space jump out of the system, but instead she input a set of coordinates that she decoded from a transmition intercepted by Keys earlier in the war. Those coordinate were the coordinates of the first Halo.
We all know the Story of Halo CE. After Halo CE Master Chief was able to capture a Covenant Flag Ship and use it to get back to Reach in order to find out if any of his fellow Spartans managed to survive on the surface. He got back to find that most of Reach had been Glassed by the Covenant, but a small portion had not. The small area that had not been Glassed was a forrest over the ONI Castle facility.
The surviving Spartans had found a crystal in caves under the ONI facility that is, most likely, Forerunner in origin. The Covenant saw the crystal as a holy relic and wanted it. Master Chief arives just in time to save some Spartans, Dr. Halsey, and Admiral Whitcomb. Later they discover that this crystal can bend and warp space and time. They also discover that time had been warped, allowing the Master Chief to get to Reach just in time to save the Spartans. The crystal was destoyed.
When the Covenant "Glass" a planet they bombard it with plasma until the atmosphere boils away, the seas evaporate, and the ground is made perfectly flat and shiny. When the Covenant are done the surface of the planet often looks as smooth and shiny as glass. That is how it got nicknamed "Glassing."
After Master Chief and those he rescued from Reach took the crystal and escaped, Reach was no longer useful to the Covenant and they would have finished Glassing it. The end of Halo 3 is a few months after Master Chief rescues the survivors on Reach. Another thing to point out is the massive bomb nicknamed a "Planet Cracker" that Admiral Whitcomb had activated and left for the Covenant to find. If that bomb was left on Reach and intact then Reach would most definetly no longer be a planet.
As we already know, Reach was Glassed before the events of Halo 3. This meens that, at best, Reach is a big shiny rock floating in space with no atmosphere and nothing on its surface. The Legendary planet has an atmosphere and lights from a city or structure.
Right there is the proof that everyone has been looking for. Reach is a big ball of rock with no atmosphere. Legendary planet has an atmosphere and either cities or large structures on it. We don't even need to talk about the different colored suns.
The different colored suns do defeat the time travel theories that many very dumb people have been throwing around. A yellow star is relatively young, while a blue star is very old. All of you time travel believers listen up. The Legendary planet's sun is blue, while Reach's sun is Yellow. The only way Master Chief would be able to see Reach's star when it is blue is if he traveled Millions, if not Billions, of years into the future. Therefore, Master Chief did not travel back in time.
Legendary planet is NOT Reach.
Lets talk about Onyx.
Onyx is a Forerunner shield world. The surface of Onyx is a thin shell of rock like Earths, but beneath the layers of rock is a massive army of sentinals that are locked in a formation that holds the surface together and keeps Onyx looking like a planet. At the core of Onyx is a reletively small structure that contains a portal that leads to a dyson sphere contained in a 5 meter wide slip space bubble. Inside the slip space bubble the dyson sphere is 150 million killometers wide.
At the end of the book Ghosts of Onyx, which finishes before the end of Halo 3, the portal leading to the dyson sphere closes and locks, the sentinals blast the thin shell of rock that used to be Onyx into dust, and the Sentinals destroy anything that gets too close to them. They make very short work of several Covenant ships.
So, if anyone were to travel to where Onyx used to be, all that you would see is a very large formation of sentinals guarding a small structure. Onyx is no longer a planet. The Legendary planet is clearly a planet with an atmosphere and not a massive army of sentinals in a formation around a small structure.
The Legendary planet is NOT Reach or Onyx.
