Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Your reasoning is shaky at best.

You mention the books, but conveniently forget that Master Chief wasn't involved in major operations on Reach.

Alot of people keep saying they want the MultiPlayer to stay the same... Well guess what Halo 3 multiplayer will be here forever. Play on as for the rest of us who want to try something new, class based could be fun. It has to change otherwise Bungie is just releasing another map pack, unacceptable.
I know whatever it is it will be good, I just hope it has Match Making! Lol, shouts out to FireFight. Does anybody still play that or is it over already?

NO CLASS

If there was class, then it wouldn't be a halo game.

How do YOU know what defines a Halo game? Just because the last 3 Bungie made games in a set defined trilogy have had the same style of gameplay? You speak as though its a long defined series thats been going for the last 20 years and therefore, woulld be blasphemy if changed. So do most everyone of you.

If a series like mario changes from its platformer roots to say, a First person Platforming game, yea, dude, that would be crazy.

Halo's had 3 (+1) game in its trilogy. Of course, Halo so far hasn't been class based. The first Halo game set the style for that trilogy. And hence, the games in that trilogy we've had so far have a defined gameplay style.

Reach falls outside of this. Its almost like a definite, and purposeful move to differentiate the game. Its a brand new slate. Tabula Rasa. Whatever.

We don't know what Halo's gameplay style has been defined to. 3 games don't define a series' style.

Oh and this guy?

You said it yourself. Hasn't.

I can imagine the folks at Bungie sitting down, reading all this nonsense, and purposely delaying any information reveal just to see crap like this continue.

Folks at Bungie... Please, goddammit, say something soon :D

Group invites will be treated very poorly because the Care Package is empty.

If Halo Reach will be a class-based game, I will personally ride a bomber directly over the Bungie headquarters and launch a large nuke onto it.

Actually, I will construct a working replica of the Shadow of Intent with my bare hands and I will glass the Bungie Headquarters if Halo Reach would be a class-based game.

That is how much I hate class based games.

Anyway, the only thing that it would reveal is that you would work in a single squad of Spartans; perhaps in covert operations, instead of fighting in a large army.

The thing that saddens me is that even if every single Bungie.net member wanted Halo:Reach to be one way or the other,it still wouldn't matter. If it's coming out about a year from now,it's probably way past that point, but on-topic,I'd want it to be Class-based,but not slow-paced like TF2.

It could work, but only in the way of you get to pick out your starting gear, and picking up whatever else you want, like(I guess) COD4(I don't have it,but played it a little).Hopefully, there aren't any things like changes in speed or health,as that would kill the thought of it being a Halo game.

Even more so,I'd LURVE a squad based game.

Missed this point out earlier, but you people who say that halo can't be converted to a Class based game, of course, if you imagine Halo 3 and try to make a class based game out of that, you're setting yourself up for massive "WTF is this -blam!-!?" feelings.

If Reach is indeed a Class based game, it would have been designed from the ground up to be a class based game. Hell, with slight adjustments and using the rudimentary template set up for us by COD4, you can more or less already imagine a class based Halo.

My point is, Halo, as a universe, with its sandbox, is set up for Multiple types of gameplay types. First example of this variation has been Halo Wars, where the sandbox nicely fits into a radically different game mode. I would even dare to say that Halo's sandbox and universe fits better into a class based system, as compared to its current iterations.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

I don't know... I have never been a fan of class games but we will see. I think the outline of the Spartans on the Reach logo is just representing each Spartan.

Like ODST, each member of the squad has their duty and specific talents but it was not a class game.

Like I pointed out previously, one look at any of the ODSTs from Halo 3: ODST won't let you make clear call outs on their specific specialties. Here, its pretty obviously exaggerated for a difference.

Oh and just putting this out there again, all those 5 up there, may not all be Spartans.

I am well aware of that. We know pretty much nothing about Reach so no matter how crazy one's theory might be it could be true or it might not be.

All we know is it is a FPS. And it is based off of Reach (woo).

No matter what my stand is, I have to agree with Viper Skills at the end of the day. We know its an FPS. We know its set on Reach, probably the best place to set any Halo game on. And we know Bungie is making it. Those 3 things, regardless of what we think they will do or what our own personal hopes and dreams are, are enough to make Halo: Reach a fine game.

Still, we need information on Reach like ASAP.

We also know it is a 3 year project. That said, I believe the "epic-ness" of this game is going to be beyond our expectations. Halo 3 was a three year project and it turned out amazing.

Bungie gets better and better at making games. ODST was only a one year project yet it still has replayability.

As you said, there is no better place in the Halo Universe to set a game than Reach. I expect amazing space battles, intense ground battles, and an ending that makes me beg for more.

problem with swbf class battle space/time/story conflict

Picture this:

1.master chief and spartans in battle.
2.master chief dies.
3.master chief is reincarnated(or re spawned) in real time.
4.Battle continues regularly.

ODST was clearly very similar to the previous games. They just used a few fan suggestions like a survival mode and playing as an ODST. Nothing big, you could still run and gun and the gameplay was the same.

My fan suggestion to Bungie is a third - person banshee/hornet fighter game.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Bungie do with this, no matter what format the gameplay takes. I'm in agreement with you when you say that people should try a game before they judge it.
