Poll: Which melee system did you think was better?  [closed]
Halo 2's (I loved to hold crouch and doge melees):  52%

Halo 3's (much easier just get em' on screen wam!):  48%
(19 Votes)
Total Votes: 40

The melee system from Halo 2 to Halo 3 had some significant changes. For one in halo 3 we can no longer crouch and duck under melee attacks. Also the lunge was significantly reduced, and now two players can kill each other with melee attacks.

So which is better? More fun? Why do you think so?

Also I'm not talking about any of the glitches like BXR or BXB. I'm just talking about the regular non-glitch melee systems of both games and which would be better for Reach.

Halo:CE, but since the vote is between h2 and h3, I say h2.
Halo 3's melee system is horrible. It's not only the double beatdown (let's just accept that the host has a slight advantage) but the fact that one betdown makes you no shield just sucks.

I like how H3 lets you lunge with melee attacks.

If I had to choose, Halo 3. If only they could be mixed. I love how you melee and then move away firing at them. On Halo 2, you just hit them twice, but dodging is awesome.

Halo CE, no lunge ftw. Momentum based and you actually can melee like four feet away but you have to hit your target.

Halo CE all the way

Halo 2 to Halo 3 saw serious melee changes? Pffft what a joke.

Put a Halo:CE option on here and maybe I'll actually vote.

Halo CE preferably.

However, out of the two, Halo 2's. Melee's registered correctly. Heck, everything registers in Halo 2.

Halo 1's was the best.

Halo 2's was too inconsistent and noob-friendly, and Halo 3's was WAY too noob-friendly.

Halo 1's was the best to be honest. It didn't lock onto enemies and it was fair. Though the range could be fixed.

Honestly the range is perfect in CE. Think of how ridiculously hard it'd be to hit someone if they decreased the melee range was maybe only a foot in front of you compared to the 3 or 4 feet range that it is. If the melee system had a lunge like in Halo 2 or 3 I could understand wanting this changed, but because there is no lunge you to something that makes it feasibly achievable to be able to land a blow.
