I'm talking about the CAMPAIGN. Not the MULTIPLAYER.

Now, if anyone has read any of the novels, particularly First Strike or The Fall of Reach, you would notice that the Spartans whose POV we follow have different specialties. Scout, Sniper, Technician, Assault, Demolitions, etc.

Classes.

Now, seeing as the Spartans behaved this way in the novels, do you think we could see the Spartans we play as in this game (members of Red Team's Splinter Team Beta [?]) will have similar classes to Blue Team in the novels?

Of course I'm talking about the SP. Maybe there will be basic squad commands (just 4 on the dpad), or you could switch between characters and use their strenghts/weapons to your advantage.

To show how the Spartans operated in their golden age. As a squad.

Discuss.

I am part of a gaming group that is based off of the Elites, and Covenant Army. If you are a fan of Elites, message me. We have a group with good talent as well. We have a ranking system that works,(Do not confuse with stupid clan systems). It is used to show dedicated members.

PS: Don't even bother unless you are 13 or older.

I don't really like that idea, maybe if each mission you would play as a different person, I would like that more. But I don't want halo to become a tactical shooter.

I wouldn't necessarily say it would become a tactical shooter, you would just have some control over the most important NPCs.. your Spartan squad (and would open up 5 player coop instead of 4). It would be simple things for the classes; ex. Support could have 200% shields, 75% speed, 150% melee damage, 50% melee speed, while the Recon could have 50% shields, 150% shield regeneration, 50% melee damage, etc. - basically the stuff we can change in Halo 3 customs now.

I would prefer it to be like ODST, where you start off with specific weapons, but aren't really bound to them.

Ideally if I were behind REACH and Classes were implemented into campaign, you would not be bound to certain weapons. You simply start with trademark weapons but can swap them out any time like in H1/2/3. Maybe when the characters were controlled by NPCs they would favor a certain type of weapon to look for (maybe hit Right on the dpad and send the squad out in search of the immediate proximity for better weapons).

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Maybe. But just in terms of starting equipment and some special features.

No, because everyone takes the easy way out and votes for that rather than what they are swinging towards, and the poll becomes inaccurate.

The game is confirmed to feel squad based with actually being it. That probably means you will play similarly to Master Chief and your allies will probably just have different weapons but you won't be telling the heavy weapons Spartan to destroy the Wraith, you will just all shoot it like normal.

It would be too complicated, and the classes would imbalance the campaign to a point where one class will probably be better than the rest throughout.
