My beat downs turn into burns.

Ok so heres wat I think.
Spartan-059 Malcom
He was a spartan 2 and was put on red team at the time of the fall reach. So he was on reach. What I think was he was say this is spartan 2 059. He just didn't say the zero cause when you say 59 you don't say zero fifty nine. Well yep thats it.

The only part Malcolm had on the surface of Reach was being dead from the impact so there's no way he could have said; Spartans on the ground sir, we're not going anywhere.

PEANUT-BUTTER SLAP!

Malcolm died on impact with Reach. He saw literally no combat at all on that planet. Secondly, following that logic, Master Chief is a Spartan I and number 320 is a Spartan III

Its definetly not a spartan III they every single one that got off Onyx (save the two that lived but they went back to onyx) died. And malcom could have been saying this as they were going down

Actually, When Fred woke up, it was about 5 minutes after impact.
Malcolm could have landed, been dying, then answered the call. Then died. Then Fred wakes up.
Thoughts?

You completely missed the point of what I wrote.

"We're not going anywhere" implies being pinned down or unable to leave. If he's falling from the sky, he's obviously moving.

While possible it is not very likely. The Spartan in the trailer sounded completely healthy. I do not care if you are a Spartan; if you fall down from the sky and land on the ground you would sound hurt no matter what.

Well, assuming you didn't die.

it doesn't matter were hes going its all down from outer space. And anyway no matter wat you said it wasn't a spartan III even if one survied a direct on bombing in the whippy SPI armour they wouldn't be sent to reach they'd be sent back to Onyx.

Well I think he's commenting on their steel resolve to never surrender and never back down from a fight. Either that or they all broke their legs and spines.

Actually in if you listen closely to the trailer he does sound a bit struggled. Heres a link: Reach Trailer

I'm going with this. That is how I took it when he started talking about "not going anywhere".

As was posted earlier you don't see anything about landing until fred wakes up. He was out for 5 minutes in these five minutes Malcom could have called in while he was dying

I apparently need to explain this. I intentionally gave a counter argument that proves that Malcolm is not 259. According to you, "Malcolm" addressed himself by his Spartan class number and his assigned Spartan ID number. If that were the case, it would mean that two other characters who addressed themselves in the same manner were actually Spartan I-17 and Spartan III-20, which they are not.

  • 10.04.2009 12:57 PM PDT

Spartan III's never came about until long after Reach had fallen. This is indeed a spartan II, and you know he's not pinned down or anything because of the calmness and lack of importance. If he were being shot at it wouldn't be panic (they're spartans) but the sense of urgency would be hightened.

259 sounds almost Exactly like chief. I hop e they all dont sound so serious. I want to have a guy with a less "Rated R" voice. You know?

whilst you have a point, i have this funny thought of malcolm getting up, standing up in a heroic pose answering the call, and then dying. hes not going anywhere. hes dead.

Truthfully I can't explain the 320 but wat do you mean by 1-17 he would say 2 117 like malcom would be 2 059

Well actually, upon hearing the trailer again, it sounds as though it's probably a marine stating that they are not going anywhere. If you can recall, there was a battalion holding the generators which got wiped out, the spartans landed mere klicks away from the generators. I believe also that Noble 1 is a reference to the dropship that the spartans were riding down, I believe this further because he quickly loses contact with it, and a few seconds later Sierra 259 talks about the spartans. He probably meant "We have backup, we're good to defend this position"

Hmm interesting...
Like that Sierra 259 and 320 are pilots and there dropping off spartans. Seirra 259 was the Red Team pilot and 320 was blue team pilot.

  • 10.04.2009 1:05 PM PDT

Well John was piloting the blue team pelican, so I'm not sure who Sierra 320 might be. Maybe Sierra 259's copilot?
