I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. OK. Here's the thing. ODST finally came out, and the first thing I did was go on Legendary.

My first thought was "Wait... Maybe Legendary ISNT A good idea..."

But let's face it, it was easy. Harder than Halo 3, yes, but ultimately easy.

I started putting on skulls I felt would make the game more tactical.

Tilt: Would make me think about the weapons I carry more. Plasma would become almost necessary for shielding and whatnot.

Famine: Ammo would be scarce, forcing me to switch up alot more often than normal. This would add a need for ammo conservation.

Tough Luck: Grenades, Needlers, Plasma Pistols, and Splatters would be harder to do, this would mean more aim with these is required. Also, Grenade Conservation comes into play.

(And when I play Coop I add these to the list)

Iron: Survival is necessary, for the whole team. This means PLAN PLAN PLAN, Tactics = survival.

Thunderstorm: Enemies are overall tougher.


Anyway, even with these additions, the game still feels just too easy. I am about to move Thunderstorm to the SP skulls, and add Mythic to the Coop skulls, literally. It is TOO EASY.

OK, now that that small rant is done, I will tell you what I want in Reach.

MYTHIC DIFFICULTY.

Yes, I understand there is a skull, but it doesn't do it for me. I want Mythic to be a full on difficulty setting. It should not only increase the health of all enemies like Mythic does now, but it should also enhance AI, Rank, and Numbers of enemies (like a regular difficulty jump), as well as add more realistic damage to the mix (thats right, 2 shots from a Plasma Rifle, and your armor melts.)

It should also show up on service records for BOTH COOP AND SINGLE PLAYER.

Thats right, I want this game to be HARDER than Halo 3, HARDER than ODST, HARDER than Halo 2, and HARDER than Halo CE.

I want this game so Hard, that people ACTUALLY COMPLAIN ABOUT IT.

I see a few complaints from -blam!- players who shouldn't be playing Legendary as is, but I want GOOD players to complain. Mythic should be the difficulty that Casual gamers will NEVER beat.

Please Bungie... CHALLENGE ME.

I challenge you. I would like WET NOODLE difficulty, where everything that shoots at you instantly explodes and you never have to carry a weapon at all.

In all seriousness, however, I'd be OK with a slight increase, but not the ridiculous level you're suggesting.

Um...2 Plasma shots would be a little too quick for me. It needs to be somewhat reasonable.

I don't know if the difficulty is too easy, or just overtime we as gamers have become better at the games. But yes, Legendary seems too easy.

And IMO, Halo ODST Legendary was easier than Halo 3's Legendary.

The only reason SLASO is hard is because of Iron. With Iron off, SLASO is ALMOST as hard as I want (Just I want the difficulty of Black Eye and Blind there WITHOUT those added, they really make the game a little stupid...)

I'm just sayin, you wanna play casual old Legendary, be my guest, but the HARDEST difficulty should be REALLY HARD.

I read your post, and I do think this would be a good idea. Except, add in an immunity to headshots feature along with the difficulty so you wouldn't be PP+BRing every enemy.

I thought they were of equal difficulty overall, I just noticed ODSTs die alot easier, that was it. In terms of AI and whatnot, they were the same, you just didn't have to deal with as much as you did in Halo 3. (They actually NURFED the Scarab... They MADE it easy. I want to fight a scarab like I did in H3. Chieftains, Brutes, Enemies all over it, in ODST there were only a couple of Grunts and ONE Brute...)

Shields should react like shields, pathetic human weapons should have little effect, while plasma should just tear everything up.

I agree, but let me take your idea one step further. The whole goal of a video game is to beat it. With Halo, beat the game on legendary, but this hasn't turned out to be much of a challenge. Since when did we have to absolutely beat the whole game? How about a difficulty system that starts on easy and has no limit for the hardest difficulty. If you want more/more powerful enemies, simply up the difficulty.

The current legendary difficulty would rank low on this new system, and the high-end difficulties would put your skills to the limit. Like Firefight, there would be no end (to the difficulty). At some point there would be a difficulty that is your limit, that you can't progress any further, and because of that you have beaten the game.

I agree, but let me take your idea one step further. The whole goal of a video game is to beat it. With Halo, beat the game on legendary, but this hasn't turned out to be much of a challenge. Difficulty Settings are fine, I'm just saying Bungie messed them up. As is it goes:

Easy - For the newest of players
Normal - For the Pansies
Heroic - For very casual play
Legendary - For most players

It should go like this:

Easy - For new players.
Normal - For Casual players.
Heroic - For most players.
Legendary - For very good players.
Mythic - For only the best of the best.

I would like for todays Legendary to be Heroic tomorrow. And Legendary should step it back up to Halo CE difficulty. Mythic should only be beatable for the really good players, like beating Through the Fire and the Flames on Expert on Guitar Hero 3, and with the skulls? Like PERFECTING it.

Difficulty in ALL games has decreased significantly, Ninja Gaiden, and Mushihimesama (the game in the link) live up to the old tradition of HARD GAMES alot better than Halo, CoD, Rainbow Six, Gears of War, or ANYTHING anymore.
