I was thinking in MM the other day what if people with different armor on had more of in advantage in a certain area.
Say im wearing scout armor and have a Sniper Rifle maybe if im zoomed in and am getting shot at i wont automatically zoom out.
Or if theres a night time level you get night vision. you guys can think of other things for different armor. No flaming please im not even sure if i like this idea or not. now that i think of it it sounds like CoD perks and i personally dont want this to be like CoD. Just curious to know what you guys think

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

I would like to see that explored as an option that can be turned off.

I absolutely think so. Bungie went through the trouble of making descriptions for each armor, I think they should make it mean something. And as stated it should be able to be turned off, or a part of the map selection in MM. ie, "Big Team Slayer Heavy on Avalanche Armor Active"!

Wow what did that just do, did that blow your minds, Shake and Bake

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Nah, cool as it could be, I don't think it would work out right.

  • 10.04.2009 6:54 PM PDT

Inconceivable!

I dunno, i like the idea. I have no idea what the abilities should be though.

@Geegs30

I don't think this would be a good feature, especially if armor is unlocked in Reach like it is in Halo 3. Say you're a newcomer and you join a game, all the other people in the game have every armor unlocked with all the special abilities and they own the crap outta you. People would just complain about them not being balanced etc. Bad idea IMO.

  • 10.04.2009 7:42 PM PDT

I don't like this because then people would pick certain combos (Such as: Head-Scout-zoom ability, Right Shoulder-EOD-Resistant to Explosions, Left Shoulder-CQB-Able to take multible shots by Shotguns and withstand Sword Strikes, and Body-EVA-Jumps Higher).

  • 10.04.2009 7:46 PM PDT

cool idea, but it would be kind of unfair in a way, for example EOD armor was designed to reduce explosion damage or something, so if you're wearing EOD against someone who is wearing mark IV. it would be unfair for grenades throws because EOD would take less damage, maybe if they have firefight or something custom armor power would be a great idea.

"You must be mistaken, Reclaimer. I've met your makers, and they don't even know your name..."

NO, because I'd rather look the way I want then have to wear armor because it's the one that won't get me killed. Stat boosters are silly. Halo is blood, sweat, and bitter, bitter n00b tears. It should remain as such forever.

well they could make it so you have to have the whole set to get the bonus.

then they could have playlist like mlg or just team slayer with the armor bonus turned off.

I like the idea for powerups with the armor. But, as it has been stated numerous times, the feature should be optional to turn on or off. It would add some extra depth to the game. If someone was wearing scout armor they could get a speed boost. EOD has extra protection against ballistic damage (note I did not say plasma damage) and it could go on and on.

Im a ODST with Valor

hah funny i was thinking some thing like this today

  • 10.05.2009 9:15 PM PDT

No it would mess with balancing too much and wouldn't play like Halo.

Halo: Reach Countdown!

I'm about to forge it up!

No because no armor should be superior to another. What if newbies came on and had beginner armor and someone who plays a whole ton had really cheap armor. Its like guns in cod, someone who is a higher level will have better weapons, that isn't that cool..

  • 10.05.2009 9:20 PM PDT

Maybe campaign could make use of armor abilities like plasma resistance or concussion resistance but in multiplayer they would all be equal.

  • 10.05.2009 9:27 PM PDT

Perhaps this could be just a Custom games feature? Or certain game types will have the armor abilities disabled or enabled?
