Once you go Black you never go back!

Futuristic, Battle Rifle-esque form. 2x or 5x magnification scope. NO Magazine- has battery much like the Plasma Rifle (start fresh at 100% charge and slowly deplete, not able to pick up more ammo.) This Rifle will be SINGLE SHOT, exactly like the Carbine, only much stronger (able to 5 or 6 shot a fully-shielded enemy.)

With the inclusion of this new weapon, the UNSC will have another "futuristic" weapon that the Marines sort of lack.

Bungie could say the weapon was derived from the Gauss Hog. The rifle magnetically accelerates shards of tungsten to injure the enemy.

I simply thought of this weapon in my head. This weapon IS NOT the M99 Stanchion Rifle.

AND if the fans really need to have cannon or if they start to complain: why isn't the Gauss Rifle in "older" Halos than?! Bungie could say that the Gauss Rifle was a prototype weapon being developed on Reach (much like the BR during Halo: Contact Harvest). However, when Reach fell so did the prototypes and blueprints for the Gauss Rifle.

I think it would be an epic weapon.

Nah, let's just keep it on the Warthog, makes it a little more unique.

Well obviously the weapon would be much weaker than the awesome cannon mounted on the Gauss Hog.

Were it so easy.

Too much like a Spartan Laser.

  • 10.04.2009 7:39 PM PDT

Inconceivable!

No

I wish I was still legendary.

The Gauss sniper already exists in halo canon under a different name, M99 Stanchion Gauss Rifle. It was essentially a handheld MAC cannon that shot .21 rounds.

I don't think we really need any new human weapons. We're fleshed out enough compared to Covenant - if anything, new/previously mentioned but unseen Covenant weapons would be good.

How the hell would a Gauss Rifle (which I stated would be BR-esque, and derived from the Gauss Warthog) be ANYTHING like a Spartan Laser (the deadly, hulking, red death beam.) Did you play Halo 3?

I know that, I just don't want to see a Vehicle Weapon change into a hand-held one and vice-versa.

P.S.: Gauss actually uses ammunation (Basically over-sized bullets), and is not energy.

Question is: Did you? The Spartan Laser has a scope, too.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Reload it like the Gears of War sniper rifle and you got a deal.

Just because the Spartan Laser and my proposed weapon both have a scope does not mean they are similar.

I would love to see the Gauss Rifle that Sgt. Johnson uses in the beginning of Contact Harvest. It would be a sniper rifle with a thermal site that shoots through walls. Also, they are magnetically driven, not using plasma. They have solid slugs.

Group invites will be treated very poorly because the Care Package is empty.

So have a weapon that is pretty much the exact same weapon as the Carbine and BR, aside from the mechanics.

No.

Because Muslims surgically implant organic bombs in their testicles, which in turn will be injected into women during sex, which will grow into BABY BOMBS!

You mean the M99 Stanchion that Johnson used in Contact Harvest?

That is true, but would Bungie really implement another human sniper rifle?

The point of war is not to die for your country, but to make the other bastard die for his.- Gen. George S. Patton.

I think what he's trying to say is that since the point of a Guass Rifle is to propel projectiles at insanely high speeds, the resulting impact would be an instant kill, with the bullet or slug moving so fast that it would travel across any halo map instantly. The only way to balance it out it out would be to have a charge up time, since the weapon would simply be overpowered otherwise. So basically, we have a SL that doesn't go through multiple people. Please refer to the following equation:

Charge up time + instant kill = Spartan Laser

Charge up time + instant kill = Guass Rifle

Therefore;

Guass Rifle = Spartan Laser

When I thought of the weapon I did not see it having a "charge time" like a Plasma Pistol or Spartan Laser.

The Carbine projects plasma at insanely high speeds and IT doesn't need a charge time.

It would be AMAZING if you could use a Gauss Rifle to shoot through a tank and take out the driver...

No.
Maybe this weapon is limited to short-mid range combat to counter the AR or BR at short-mid range. That or make it a mid-long range weapon but nerf it at short range. Maybe the magnetically propelled tungsten shard doesn't have enough time to gain velocity to inflict damage at short range.

Halo: Reach is being built upon a BRAND NEW engine so... there's hope!

Not to sound TOO COD-esque, but I REALLY hope they implement the ability to shoot through walls.
