Subject: Who is Noble 1?

I am going into this thread blindly without knowing anything about the book Fall of Reach, and I am going into this thread without a thorough search for any certain thread pertaining to this. Is Noble 1 already known to people who he is, or is he unknown. If you do not know who I am talking about, at the end of the trailer one guy says "Noble 1, come in Noble 1"... I would just like to know who that is. Does anyone know?

It's a callsign, likely a battlegroup or ship, since it only has a single numeral in it. Pelicans and other mass-produced things have several numbers (e.g. Echo 419), while ships and large formations only have one or two (e.g. Sixth Army).

Just my opinion, I've no idea if it's right.

Most likely a ship of some sort. I was thinking it might have been the Dropship in which the Spartans were in. Again speculation.

But, he says we need you in that fight Noble 1. I thought that to signify a singular person?

Callsigns are always singular, even if they refer to a group of objects. Once again, I don't know. Noble 1 could be a hot dog cart with an automag strapped to it for all my talk. I'm just assuming based on the number.

Not necessarily. If he's addressing a battalion whose callsign was Noble 1, then him speaking to the commander singularly would extend to him talking to the entire battalion.

This Noble 1 thing has me intrigued. If it is plural, do you think it could be the squad of Spartans in the Reach Picture?

HUZZAH! Have at you, sir!

On topic, it could be. Or the callsign of their commanding body (NAVSPECWEP)'s military forces. I think based on the trailer, we'll figure out who or what Noble 1 is in the game.
