First of all.
THIS IS A CAMPAIGN ONLY IDEA!
No multiplayer whatsoever.

Ok,
Who here's played Descent, 1,2 or 3?
Who here's played Freespace 1 or 2?
Best flight simulator/space battle games of all time.
I'm going to be focusing on Freespace for this thread.
Its an incredible game, you have your spaceship and your squadron, each level will give you objectives, as in most games, however everysingle objective you do has varying levels of success, for instance, a huge frigate is attacking one of your cruisers, you have to dstroy 3 of its cannons, if you only manage to take out one, you still complete the mission, but then later on that could have been your biggest mistake. You get bonus points for squadron members surving and things like that.
Well,
Here's the Halo part.
Reach was definitely not just a battle on the ground. The entire human/covenant war was nearly completely decided on space battles. All I'm saying is two, maybe three space based missions, where you fly out in a Longsword and take out key points on a Covenant ship. If you succeed further levels in the campaign will prove easier, if you fail then they are harder.
These levels could be replayed as anyothers, but could also be skipable for those die hard Halo fans who hate anything but being a walking tank marching through armies of covenant. I would prefer just a little more mixture in types of level myself.
Anyway,
I guess this idea could be incorporated into multiplayer although I think that really would create a Halo battlefront.
Guys, if you'd played freespace, you know this would be pretty good if done in a similar way.

Thanks.
